DP: Embree talks about Forrest West departure

But his decision to leave the team "had nothing to do with any academic or disciplinary issues, a lack of commitment to the team, or any question about his ability to continue making substantial contributions as he has done during the past two seasons," Embree said in a release.

It wasn't this or this or that, it was something I don't want to say. OK.
 
What on earth was the point of this article / public statement by Embree?!?!


Not about academics.
Not about disciplinary issues.
Not about commitment to the team.
Not about his ability to contribute to the team.

Not gonna tell you why he left.

Perfect.
 
So are we to take it that West wanted to leave to go back home? Or was he still asked to leave the team? Dply? Anyone have a clue?

I'm of the opinion nothing good will come from going down this line of questioning and am content to leave it as "bad fit" following the coaching change.

The timing is bad, considering Forrest is looking to join another team.
 
I'm guessing some family issues but it doesn't really matter what he got cut/left for and we probably won't know.
 
Embree made no effort in the first round of this to explain why players were cut other than the ones injured.

So what is really going on here? Did Embree assissinate his character and now has decided to back off and sugar coat it a bit to assist the kid in finding another school that will pay for his education?

I support Embree's decision to make the roster moves, but I thought he came off a bit harsh in the press on it. I know the former coaches liked Forest, and i'd be surprised if Greg Brown wasn't in that camp.

Buff you've just been brainwashed into pussy ass football that was under Hawkins. Embree won't publicly say why which I agree with.
 
I think it was a good statement. For anyone out there besmirching West, he should be considered unbesmirched - speculate all you want, it's none of your business. I don't have a problem with that, and there's certainly nothing wrong with taking the heat off of a good kid. Kudos to Embree for defending West and the two unable-to-compete kids.
 
Who cares, I didn't even notice him out there last year so what's the big loss? Good luck to you Forrest but we are going places now so Adios.

I think this qualifies you for epic failure post of the day. These kids committed to Colorado and take the field competing for our University. I hope they succeed despite that craptacular coach they gave a chance to.

Blah,blah,blah,blah,blah. The players who aren't on Embree's bandwagon and are Hawk recruits mean nothing to me.
 
If it's medical, HIPPAA prevents the uni from divulging it without the players permission. But, I doubt very much if the medical condition would prevent West from playing football. Just not here.
 
Idk Bob, if it is medical and it's a concussion problem which is very likely, that's a great reason for him to not play ball anymore. Sounds kind of weird though that Embree is helping him find a different school though which makes me think it's not medical and a family issue and wants to be closer to home.
 
It is not medical.

MTM and Jefferson were clearly denoted as medical and West was not. This latest release restates it is not medical. West is trying to hook on elsewhere to play.

Embo clearly wants us to read between the lines because he cannot say the reason outright. My guess is that he's trying to tell us that West got a girl back home pregnant and he's leaving the team so he can try to join a program closer to home. Just a guess, but this explanation fits all the conditions around why West would leave as well as the reason why Embo couldn't say what it was, it's West's personal business.

Embree was very clear in the first place that West was cut. You don't cut a guy because he impregnated his girlfriend back east and wants to transfer to be closer to her.

he cut the guy. He's not going to announce why, which is his perogative. He had his reasons. No need to speculate as to why. He cut him.

Now, with the benefit of hindsight, JE has decided to state something more positive publicly to help the kid find a new home.

Embree probably wishes he didn't announce the cut and just let the kid transfer. After the fact, we'd find out West transferred and then Embree can say it was a mutual deal. Or say nothing at all.
This happens with ALL coaching changes.

You are too! You have no clue what happened between Embo and West, so your explanation is just as made up as mine. At least I acknowledged my version was a guess.
