... that we we are in the NIT.

The reason?

This:

Fri, Nov 12 IDAHO STATE - W 88-80
Tue, Nov 23 ALCORN STATE - W 91-51
Sun, Nov 28 Harvard - L 66-82
Tue, Nov 30 TEXAS-PAN AMERICAN W 83-64
Fri, Dec 17 THE CITADEL - W 89-61
Sun, Dec 19 LONGWOOD - W 104-59
Wed, Dec 29 MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE - W 92-65
Sun, Jan 02 Cal State Bakersfield - W 85-73
Wed, Jan 05 WESTERN NEW MEXICO W 92-70

Apparently a schedule so weak that no other team played such a weak schedule. Buzz apparently had serious doubts about his teams ability to win. Too bad. They turned out to be a pretty good team. But close to 8 of our 20 wins were against the abysmal eight above....

He went on to point out that this, quote, "Husker Like schedule" was what did us in.

it's nothing new that a coach at Colorado scheduled some easy wins OOC to keep his job. what needs to change, is the AD letting it happen.

Harvard's rpi was 35, they have a legit bitch imo. they are not a bad loss compared to what isn't for USC, Clemson, VSU, etc.

Best RPI of the teams who didn't make it.

1. The fact that a weak out of conference schedule kept us out of the tourney is not exactly some great revilation. We all already knew that.

2. The Harvard game actually helped our sos, it was Boyle who scheduled the games against Cal State Bakersfield and D2 Western New Mexico, and the games against The Citadel and Longwood were assigned to as part of the Las Vegas tournament, which Boyle scheduled.

Yeah. It's Boyle's fault.

It's nobodys fault at the beginning of the season most on here would be psyched for the NIT. Baby steps.

I hear you, but this was "the year". Unfortanetly those steps will likely be moving backwards next year, unless Burks stays.

I'm sure you were positive that this was a tourney team before the season. Hell Tad wasn't confident in this team which is evident in the schedule.

I am just glad that Bzdelik is no longer involved with this program, good riddance to him.

^^^^ This.

No one, probably including Boyle or Buzz, thought at the beginning of the season, that the Buffs would play so well down the stretch. Perhaps the easier schedule up front built their confidence. It's really hard to say.

Boyle seems to be the man based on UNCs play as well as CUs. The future seems bright. At least until someone comes along and buys him away from us... :Tantrum:

I thought the Buffs had a shot at the tourney BEFORE Tunks went down. What we did being outsized is amazing.

Which proves, IMO, that the RPI is full of crap.

You'll get no argument from me on that one, sacky.

It's been an amusing couple of days in the media, down here. Boyle's name keeps getting thrown around by the local hacks as a possible replacement for Capel. I'm not worried that Boyle will jump ship for Norman -- I think he's smarter than that -- it's just funny that one writer mentioned it yesterday, and now more are chiming in with the same crap.

How bad is the reasoning of the local hacks? Here's how they "ranked" the HC openings now available:

1. Arkansas
2. Oklahoma
3. Georgia Tech
4. Utah
5. North Carolina State
6. Providence
7. Texas Tech

Fire away.......

Disagree; Before the season Ryan Thornburg (BB beat writer) said that this team should be bubble team and if they play consistently they should make the tourney. He also felt this was the most talented CU team in a while and had NCAA talent but the coaching transition was the unknown. So no way was I planning being "psyched" by playing in the NIT.

Who was this from, some writer in Oklahoma?

Amusing. Unless they're ready to pony up stoopid money, which I don't think they are, Boyle ain't leaving. Even if they did pony up stoopid money, I suspect Bohn would either match or come damn close to matching anything they put out there. He's not about to lose the one coach he's hired that has been successful from the start. Bohn is a basketball guy.

his buyout is 500k, so it is not like they/he would have to shell out a lot. Lets put it this way, say they want to put a $1.5 million offer for Boyle (Capel was making this amount), do you really think we could/would want to match this?

If Boyle breaks the contract and leaves CU he will be responsible for:
$500,00 if he leaves before April 30, 2012;
$350,000 if he leaves after April 30, 2012 and on or before April 30, 2013;
$100,000 if he leaves after April 30, 2103 and before April 20, 2014.

We wouldn't have to. Colorado >>>>>>>>>> Oklahoma. Especially for Boyle. So while he would be crazy to turn down that kind of money, CU wouldn't have to completely match it to convince him to stay. We were paying Buzz somewhere just shy of $1MM. They'd give Boyle a good bump to whatever it would take to keep him here.

Money talks. We are but a stepping stone in the hoops world and barely one at that on a historical basis. We have crappy facilities, an aging and small hoops arena, that cant even regulary achieve better than 50% attendance. Winning consistently would hopefully change all that. But I don't expect Boyle to last very long.

I'm pretty sure that he didn't hit all his incentives to make the full 950k that is possible. Especially since they didn't make the NCAA tourney. I would bet he makes around 750 to 800k. Now if Oklahoma wants to beat out OSU and start pay 1.9 million, it is hard to walk away from a cool million a year.

no way Boyle goes to OU.

my step-dad (OU hoops donor) seems to think that Buzz Williams is the front-runner when they don't get Gillespie.

That's at least an intelligent guess.

Besides Boyle, one of the other names they published as a potential candidate is .....

John Thompson III

seriously. ???????????. not even sure that's a guy you want outside of Big East Homer ESPN love land...where you can lose games left and right and still be ranked somehow.

i think the parochial Okies hire within the region. Capel was too Yankee or east coast or something for them, step-Dad says. no idea who that is, however. on the OU hoops board they are talking about Williams, the coach at North Texas (?), and Doc Sadler.
