E-mailed Football survey to season ticket holders

To those AllBuff season ticket holders, I'm curious to know what your thoughts are about the FB survey? IMO, I thought it was a somewhat half assed attempt to say the AD is paying attention to the alumni/fan base of season ticket holders. I don't get why the survey also asked current & former faculty & staff what their opinion is? Are they waiting for Mike Bohn to chime in and give his opinion? The last question in the survey was the most relevant. "What is the one thing that will keep you a happy season ticket holder"
Since the field for that question was set up for free form text, I'm going to guess that some of you, including myself, let them know that it is alot more than one thing.:bang:

They sent another one?

If we're being honest and not pulling punches, what can we say that CU does well? Please, someone, name one ****ing thing.

This was an updated version similar to the last one. One thing I did notice this season is that they haven't been "underpricing" the season ticket holders too much by giving away $10 tickets, so I'm guessing that might have been a concern of those who took the last survey and the AD is responding to that. However, that also is probably cutting into game day attendance, costing the AD money.

Kicking their alumni and fans in the balls repeatedly on Saturdays in the fall?

I put show commitment to winning through facilities upgrade in the text box. I kept it simple and that is my primary concern

One thing to keep season ticket holders happy? Hmmmm, how 'bout simply winning games. Mind blowing, I know.

Really not seeing what keeps bringing us faithful back. Everything there is overpriced - $6 bag of popcorn, $5.50 for a bottle of soda, $4 bottle of water, $5.25 hot coco, pizza / nachos don't even go there.... Do not sell beer or booze?? Crappy product on the field. Some of the most expensive tickets sold in college football. A stadium and especially bathrooms I feel I need to apologize to visiting fans for. Purely pathetic.

I will probably never purchase season tickets for football from the school. At least until I see a true commitment to the program. I purchase mine through the marching band, because the entire ticket amount is banked in the band's scholarship fund. I know where that money goes and I know what it does. I have no idea where my donation would go too or what it does if I bought them through the AD.

Basketball, I have seen the investment and I am glad to donate to that program because I can see my money actually at work and building something.

yes, for season tickets. Their "donation" fee on top of the ticket is what jacks the price up more.

Prove it with actual numbers because I can think of a lot of schools off the top of my head with higher ticket prices

From a tailgaters view point, stop messing with the tailgaters. Seriously. They put bike racks in the middle of a tailgating area? Who the feck does that? They have tailgaters on campus 6 days a year. Six. Whatever damage we might do is minimal, and easily and cheaply mitigated. They need to cherish and encourage tailgating. They're doing the opposite.

Yeah buffedup the tickets are not that expensive, as a former UCLA season ticket holder I can tell you that their tickets were the same price as ours are today 6 years ago, I can also tell you Nebraska tickets are far more expensive than ours, my relatives pay roughly what i do to sit in 118 for their endzone seats. Our concessions are also inline with if not cheaper than the other stadiums in have recently been to:

Furd
Cal
UCLA
USC
Lincoln

The issues as i see them are two fold, far and away the #1 is product on the field. #2 to me is fan experience: they need to focus on making the game day easier and more enjoyable.

And then you have schools like Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Auburn, Florida, etc.

We were told this weekend by the police that we could not have alcohol at our tailgates anymore. They told a bunch of people in our area the same thing. In past years I would of been on here raising h3ll and calling the AD. Does not make any difference anymore. People in my group just shrugged and said "That's it" in the past we would of lobbied the AD- not one even cares anymore. Odds of me renewing are probably almost nil.

Where do you tail-gate?

The communication between the CUPD and CUAD is awful. CUPD gets a memo about something and just goes out and starts busting people's tailgates. They don't clear it through the AD, they just go. I can honestly say that if they tell me I can't have liquor at the tailgates anymore that I'm done with tailgating.

It really shouldn't be this hard.

Steps for the offseason for the AD.

1) Refurbish Folsom. Paint, repair, replace. Bring in a few TV's into the field house. Update the ridiculously out of date WW2 era speakers.
2) Fix the student entrance. Rebuild or re-organize the entrance and provide incentive for the students to be there, and to be there early.
3) Re-organize the tailgate rules and regs. Create a clear list of what is allowed, what is not allowed, and leave the tailgaters alone. None of this mixed communications from the PD.
4) Create a facilities upgrade road map. Launch a website. Put up some pretty pictures. Track and display progress in real time towards reaching our fundraising goal. Provide a pay-pal link to donate. Make it simple stupid.
5) Individually contact each season ticket holder. Thank them for their support. Remind them how much they mean to the university. Invite them all to a "town hall" session where concerns can be addressed by the AD with a 3 or 4 hour Q&A session. Bring in Rick George, Benson and Distephano.

If by "fix the student entrance" you mean "Get rid of the student entrance and allow anybody with a ticket to go in any gate they choose", then I agree completely with your post.

Well that would be ideal, but if they feel like they "need" to separate students to get them in quicker, then fine. They either need to have 12 people checking buffcards like they have people checking tickets, or they need to create a separate line at all entrances for students, that way they can spread out the flow of people.

Well, see, this is the problem. I'm sure they do feel the "need" for a separate entrance. The problem is there really isn't that need. They did just fine in 1986 with giving me a ticket that had six punches in it - one for each game. I could go in any gate. No problem. There's no reason they can't do something similar. They created this issue with piss poor student attendance, and they're blaming the students for it.

I would like to see the responses they get from fans. Several years ago Bohn said if you took the survey you would get priority points added to you account. I took the survey and never saw the points.

Mixed up priorities.

Let's make the tail gating fans that care enough about CU football to show up uncomfortable. You can't make this stuff up!

I think they have effectively managed the student entrance issue by alienating all of them to the point they don't come to games. At this point they need kegs in the student section and two free beers per person in the tail gate lots.

It has officially gotten ugly!

If I am the AD I would be working toward getting the football team winning as my #1 objective. MY#2 would be to enhance the experience of the fans at games.
I think the best way to do that would be to look at Coors field. Everyone likes to go to Rockies games, even when the Rockies are terrible. Coors is now building a new Rooftop that will be 52'80 ft long and feature local beers. That is the type of thing that makes going to Coors a destination. It embraces everything in Colorado culture to become like Colorado's front porch. Football should be treated like CU's front porch. It is the place to show off all of the great things going on at the university and what makes Boulder unique.

CU needs to embrace Colorado Beer culture. Bring back beer and do not in a half assed way, jump into the beer band wagon with both feet. Build a giant beer deck, feature local breweries, get sponsored by beer companies. Coors is a deep deep pocket but there are many others. They could always ask Don Sanchez to help them learn how to sell beer at stadium I believe he wrote a book on it.

Plan to prosperity (Ignoring team performance)
1) Beer

2) Beer culture

3) Support tailgating and make it as easy as possible for people to get in and out of Boulder.

4) Bring some interesting food into Folsom.

5) Open up Folsom to other events other than Football to allow for the other accoutrements to grow and thrive year around.

6) Make and support traditions

7) Enhance half time show, nothing needs to be big but Basketball has had some very entertaining ones for years now.

I mentioned that as well. I included how shameful it would be to have csu announce a new stadium while CU does nothing to upgrade Folsom.

I noticed a cop taking pictures of the Allbuffs Sackgate - watched him take pics of the 'booze table' but he never came over and said anything. I'm thinking his job was to report back to somebody showing evidence of all the booze at tailgates. Something is brewing I believe and I bet it's not good.

Yes to everything you've said, but it will never happen with the current 'visionaries' running this school
