assuming we dispatch the sheep 55-10 as we should, then we have the 2 gimmes before we face uw. the fuskies will be coming in ranked, as they are currently in the top 10. we get them at home. they will have played rutgers, montana, and fresno; neither team is going to have proven anything.

if we want to make a nice early statement and get into the top 20, this would be a really good win.

i want to believe we are for real.

Which team will be able to adjust to real speed after three less talented foes?

I am hosting my old roommate from DC and his wife for this game. He is a W grad and is a pilot. So, a loser.

He came out for the last game that W played in Folsom. I want some damn payback!

Good post...but we should be in the top 20 for that game.

i think you are overly optimistic-- assuming we do what we are supposed to do in the first 3, i'd expect us to head into that uw game ranked around 22 and them still in the top 10 if they don't eff up.

but, i hope you are correct.

The most important thing is getting that first W, but even if we do go 3-0, against that schedule, I highly doubt we break the top 25.

Could be wrong, but I think we would need a W against UDub to get into the rankings.

We are at 27. Simply winning week one could get us in because some top 25 teams are going to lose and drop out.

I pretty much think we are ranked after beating CSU.

It's less about what we do, and more about what the teams ranked 20-26 do. If they lose, we move up.

At least one of them is 100% guaranteed to lose a game (#20 WVU plays #22 VT in week 1).
One of Washington State or Utah will lose one of their first 3 games (probably Wazzu, but UU's schedule isn't "easy").
Texas will lose one of their first three (they play USC in LA in week 3 if they don't step on their own dick earlier).
Tennessee will lose one of their first three (they open at Georgia Tech, and then play @ Florida in week 3).

There's no way we'll be higher than 22. But - assuming we win the first three - we'll most likely be sitting at 23 or 24; maybe 22, maybe 25, but definitely not unranked.

Lose one of the first three, and I'm not even sure if a win against UW will get us there though...

I think Louisville, Miami, West Virginia, Texas, & Tennessee will probably also lose one of their first 3 games. Utah, Kansas St, Florida & Georgia might drop one too. Of course we might get leapfrogged even if we go 3-0 because we play a dog-poop schedule.

I think we can book Washington St losing to Montana St. They coug an opening game like that pretty much every year.

Couldn't agree more. We are a very tough out at home even when we are the underdog. If we can start 3-0 I think we go into this game about a 7 point underdog and have a legit shot to win
