Early Roll Call for Fresno State 9/15/12

Yes, I know we're still 5 months away from kicking things off against CSU on September 2nd, but I can't help myself.

Given that Fresno is a 3 and a half hour drive from the Bay Area and a 4 hour drive from LA, do you think we show up with a very healthy contingent?

I've honestly never actually stopped in Fresno. I always see clips of it on Gangland, and I've driven by it along Highway 99 a half dozen times on my way to and from LA, but that's it.

How many of you are planning on attending? I'll be there +5.

Fresno State fits just about 40k in their stadium. Do you think we can get 10-15%?

I just took a look at flights. The Fresno airport sucks. I might do it if I can get a deal on United. But no Southwest or Frontier.
 
A Co-worker is a Fresno grad. Going with him from Vegas, but I told him we had to sit in the CU section. And Buffnik-Allegiant flies from Loveland to Vegas to Fresno. You might check that out. Prices right now are pretty high for some reason, but usually go down on that airline.
 
is fresno safe enough to lug a kid along with me or do i need to pack a glock rather than a youth?

I'll put it on the radar. If I go, I'll probably make the decision at the last minute.
 
I think I will be going, I have an aunt that lives in Clovis and is about 10 minutes from FSU.

Cheaper (about half the cost) to fly into San Jose and drive. It's like a 2 hour 45 minute drive.
 
I'm in +1. Will be driving from SF. Fresno is an interesting place. I've haven't been in about 10 years. I'm sure it gotten a little worse or at least I've heard the stories. Definitely not some place I'll be hanging around after the game. Might include it with a trip to Yosemite that night. Who knows.

Probably wouldn't bring a kid with me but it can't be that bad with a bunch of CU fans around.
 
FWIW, I've heard that Fresno fans have calmed down since 10 years ago, due in large part to the fact that they aren't a particularly good team anymore (and haven't been for a few years now). Things have supposedly mellowed out. You have to keep in mind that while many fanbases can have hooliganism during the ups, most lose it during the downs. It's only CU that is able to maintain it throughout both -- punishing grandmothers from Nebraska regardless of whether we have 10 wins or 5.
 
I can't wait for another PAC team to visit Fresno and share the game day experience. They are the 2nd best team in their conference IMO and they are very supportive of their team. Aside from any smack talk I may have had with them, I will say that they love their Dogs. I'm giddy with anticipation!

love that you guys are coming in from out-of-state for this guy, but please don't think the rest of california looks like fresno. :rofl: fresno reminds me more of rocky ford or walsenburg.

There is one nice area in Fresno but I forget what it is called. It is the area that they have Christmas Tree Lane. Otherwise, yeah, Fresno sucks ass. But if you are flying in for the game and renting a car, it is definitely worth the short drive eastward to see the huge trees up at sequoia national park and if you are willing to drive a tiny bit further to check out yosemite.
 
For those driving from the SF Bay Area, is anybody spending the night in Fresno?

I sure as hell aren't. Even though this thing ends around 8pm, I'm getting the **** out of dodge.

yep-- staying sober and pedal to the floor for the escape. mental note to self: take all Buff identifying items off vehicle before heading to game.
 
The only way I am going is if I am there for work. If that is the case, that means I am still stuck in this f-ing place. This is one time that I'm hoping I will not be at a game.
