EB does not have the talent he needs

You really can't blame the coaching staff for the lack of production and our inability to develop an identity as a running team as we were promised 2 years ago.

I mean, look at what the kind of talent is needed at Nebraska among the 12 guys that start in their base sets. It takes blue chip prospects to have the #7 rushing offense in the nation (#3 on YPC).

Offensive Line
LT - Brent Qvale: 3 star
LG - Seung Hoon Choi: Walk-on
C - Justin Jackson: Walk-on
RG - Spencer Long: Walk-on
RT - Jeremiah Sirles: 3 star

Tight Ends and Receivers Blocking

This is the type of stuff that gives me hope that maybe, just maybe we can turn this around quicker than we all think - if we can just get the right coaches.... which of course requires us to get rid of the current coaches first.

Speed at the skill positions is vital, something our coaches do not value enough. They want to switch to the spread with below average speed at skill positions. Good luck.
 
it isn't exactly apples to apples, but i agree with the OP. the only caveat being that the fuskers have long done a great job of cultivating ol by taking walk on farm boys and engineering them into 5th year starters.

the combination of a cultish fanbase producing some big hogs, with modern weight training and chemicals (allegedly) = fusker o-linemen.

gee wiz, if only CU had better players than CSU, sac state and fresno st, maybe we would win a game
 
They got some nice walk-ons who've beaten out higher rated guys on the O-Line.

They have fast guys at QB and WR and they are deep there. They have more WR talent on their 3rd team than on our first. This is less than a coaching-up issue than a recruiting issue. They actually have a 4-star that is redshirting at WR.

I'm not defending EB. It's been a poor job. But you got to have some offensive threats and God himself isn't going to make McCullough a deep threat. Every team we've played has had a LOT more speed than our offense has. Every team.
 
The thing that puzzles me most about EB is his refusal to use the few fast guys we have. Gerald Thomas needs more touches as does Keenan Canty.
 
I do think there is some talent on offense especially with Prich at WR next yr. I'm much more bullish on that side of the ball for the future than the defense.

What's frustrating is there always seems to be enough talent in state for CU to field a good OL, and enough borderline guys to do exactly what the nubs do with the walk on program. Be nice to see a coaching staff in Boulder acknowledge that.

I can't understand if your supporting sarcasm with sarcasm, or if you just suck at understanding ****, and stuff.
 
I read the title of the thread and went right to the players stars. I was confused as hell until I got to Martinez then it dawned on me who you were talking about. Can it get any worse?

Although NU prob has some walk on kids who could've gone to other schools, but really want to be a Cornholer more than anything else in life. Losers.

Keenan is a Hawkins recruit, not allowed on the field.

This has always baffled me, as well. I could understand running fade routes to McCullough. He certainly has the height (maybe not the hands) to make those kinds of catches. But the constant fly patterns to him make no sense.
 
a lot of it is coaching and expectations. You are expected to do good at nu, at CU as long as you try real hard then it is ok. Some speed on the outside (WR) would help bunches. Our defense deserves a thread all to itself.
