Ok after near a week off the Mighty Buffaloes of Colorado take on the Phoenix of Elon. This game has TRAP written all over it, coming off an emotional late win at CSU and of course this:

And with our next tilt against Marcus Smart and the #7 ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys in Vegas. make no mistake about it a loss to Elon would be a very bad loss for us but it is not out of the question. Elon has shot well from three this year (44%) and when they get to the line they shoot it better than we do.

Seriously what are the odds, we win this game? 80%?

Realtime RPI has it as a 20 pt win for us
Vegas has us at about 14.5 pt favorites depending on the Book
Online Sports books are as high as 15.5

Trap game. Although I think Tad has been around enough to know a trap game when he sees it and *should* have them prepared to play. OTOH, these are kids, and they just came off of a huge win against a very good opponent. It would be natural for them to feel a certain sense of invincibility. That's the kind of thing that gets you beat against teams that are well coached and can hit the "3".

Yeah...really not worried about this one, like not worried at all. Elon is bad at defense and offense, doesn't force many turnovers, and doesn't get to the line. We are damn good on D, pretty good on offense, we force turnovers, and we get to the line a lot.

What games worry you? Just curious

I hope you're right. This has a distinctive "Texas Southern" flavor to it.

 for ****s sake metro st beat them

I'm pretty sure Metro would be a top 200 D1 team. I'm not taking Elon lightly, and especially not because they lost to Metro. The three ball is a great equalizer, and we haven't exactly been very good defending the three this year.

I'm a bit nervous about this one given how we beat teams like Oregon only to lose to Oregon State last year.

A bit different IMO when it's a more grueling schedule, teams are more familiar with you(yes I realize that argument goes both ways), and less time between games. When you beat a team like Oregon on Thursday then face Oregon State a few days later, I think the "hangover" effect is more likely.

That's gonna require a Elon player to drop 39+

Elon's page on ESPN: http://espn.go.com/mens-college-basketball/team/_/id/2210/elon-phoenix

Lucas Troutman, a 6-10 senior power forward is their leading scorer at 17.5 ppg. Several more forwards are averaging double digits.

Tanner Samson, the kid from Littleton, is capable of draining threes. He really lit up VMI and could be the person to have a big game in tonight's game. Perhaps Samson could be that player who drops that 39+ tonight.

Motto for tonight's game: Just Win Baby.

The intangible that I would be more concerned with is that Samson is playing in front of some hometown folks and would be motivated to go off against a team that might have not recruited him.

I know I might be sounding like Lou Holtz before the Irish played Army but it's the intangibles that concerns me.
