Embo "looking ahead to next year"? That makes one of us!

Okay, this post title is a cheap shot lifted from this Daily Camera article entitled, "CU Buffs' Jon Embree looking ahead to next year," but whatever.

Few priceless quotes in here...

Discussing the current personnel, Embo says:

"The one advantage of having all this youth is it all comes back and it comes back mature and obviously with tons of experience," Embree said.
The piece continues on his offensive scheme/plans for next year saying...

Embree is also planning a move to spread offense that still emphasizes running the ball. He plans to fully implement that change in the spring and summer if he remains in charge. All indications from school officials point toward him being retained.

When asked about his job security, EB responds:

"Whatever is going to happen is going to happen," he said. "You don't coach this game scared. Everybody is hired to be fired. I'm going to keep working my ass off and being who I am. If they decide to go in a different direction, that's what we do. I know who I am and I know what I'm about.

"You're always disappointed. This is a production-driven industry. You're measured by wins and losses and obviously if you're not winning, then hey, you've always got to take a look at self."

I love how EB talks. I hate how he coaches.

I hate how he coordinates an offense.

As a position coach, he's the kind of guy who would have made me willing to run through a wall for him. He's just not an OC.

That's the main problem with the staff that was assembled. Lots of excellent position coaches with a lack of leadership and coordination to pull that together.

ya, that.

Don't worry, they are bringing in daddy to fix it...sorry that is a really cheap shot but our situation is beyond frustrating. Can't believe our plan is stick it out for the 30% chance we make the New Mexico bowl in 3 years.

In before "It's better to not go to a bowl game because this gives us more time in the weight room and more time to recruit."

You know, that quote from EB doesn't sound like it's coming from someone who is confident he'll be coming back next season.

gonna be real interesting to see if the bevy of new coaches are from the Embree's friend's club or if his new coordinator(s) bring in true outsiders to at least some of the positions.

I'm having a harder and harder time seeing anyone but a friend of Embree's come in here to be an AC with him next year.

They will either be Embo friends, washed up coordinators, or folks from no-name schools that are hoping to make a quick name for themselves.

Just guessing

OC/QB-Stitt
RB-Bieniemy
WR-Kennedy
ST/TE's-Broohart
OL-Marshall

DT-Tui
DE/OLB's-McGhee
DC/ILBs-Wilson
DB's-Ryan Walters

Embree's been looking ahead to next year since the Sac St. game.

No doubt. Maybe we will actually be competitive in more games next year, but that will require Embree to actually be dialed in each and every game. Good luck.

True. No one worth a crap would come here to work for a coach on the hot seat.

Can someone explain to me the part in this article that says that we have higher standards than a lot of schools?

To me, this is most of the problem.

Tui will be moving on. At least one of Brookhart and Marshall will be gone too.
really sad about Tui, not really worried about the rest of them. Tui was a bright spot, and he deserves a chance to watch his Dline grow up. However, he's probably escaping the sinking ship.
