Embree here through 2013 Season

I am convinced now based on a number of things-what Daily Camera has been saying, the quotes from Bohn and Benson, past history with the administration and even the small email correspondence I had with Bohn which I posted earlier, that we have to accept Embree is here for next season.

The only way I think that is going to change is if something even worse happens in the next 3 games than has already happened (hard to imagine). But I am also convinced whether he wants to or not, Bohn is going to force Embree's hand to replace at least one Coordinator (GB) and make other changes as well.

I guess if that is the case, we should all try to get behind Embree (might take all the mental energy I have left) and hope he can turn this thing around next year. I don't really want to spend all next season hoping the Buffs don't improve enough to earn JE another year. I'd rather root for a radical improvement and a bowl game next year. Also hard to imagine.

A few games with less than 30,000 fans in the seats and the possibility of losing half their season ticket sales will give them something to consider when it comes to retaining Embree.

If this happens, call me in 2014 because I can't watch. Next year will be a complete waste that only puts the program in a deeper hole.

This.

The final 3 games of the season did in Barnett. If Colorado continues to get blown out like they have been, the fans will just revolt even more and force the decision on the University. My call is if Colorado has 3 final blowouts including two at home in front of sparse crowds, then Embree is gone. Simply too much damage to recover from.

Oooh, big changes!

^^ This ^^

Didn't we already go thru this one time?!?

I agree with everyone who feels that retaining Embree another year is just delaying the inevitable but causing more damage to CU, the alumni base, the future of the program, etc.

But I think they are making it abundantly clear that they do not intend to can Embree this year period. Again, if there is something catastrophic (e.g. scandal or maybe 3 straight shutouts?) the admin might change their mind.

Somehow I'm feeling like it will repeat almost the same way. They will spew a line of BS about how we are just ready to turn the corner and how the staff deserves a fair chance to make their changes. They will point at all the young guys playing, they will march out Mac for a pep talk and we will go out and leave a giant brown stain on CU football. As they get through most of the schedule the pressure will finally get to be to much and they will fire Embree with 3 games left after a particularly embarassing loss. They will then take the hiring process away from the athletic director again and have a stupid committee make an even stupider hire and away we will go again.:sad1:

I think the Buffs will compete in one of the three remaining (i didn't say win), and that gives the uppers a chance to say look at the progress with all these young kids.

Yep. Some people never learn.

There won't be a change even with three straight 70-3 games. I do think that a change to the ultra hurry up spread can be a saving grace for Embree. Embree seems to like to reflect on the past so maybe he sees his 3rd year as an oman. Have a terrible first two years in charge then change offense like Mac did and go in a totally different direction. EB and Brown are gone but what OC in their right mind comes in for what will most likely be a one year gig?

Hal Mumme. He's at McMurry University now...

And that is what scares me. The only way you could possibly call it progress is by accepting the beginning of this year as the baseline. If you do that, you are rewarding the coaching staff for performing so poorly this year that the only way to go is up.

I agree Embree will be back and I hope he succeeds. I don't believe he will but I will continue to hope for it.

I've been expecting them to "compete" all season.

We shall see but a half empty stadium and 40+ point losses could do him in
This or a bunch of players quitting/requesting transfers. Otherwise, he'll be here next year. Keep these 3 close and/or a win 1 of them and he's definitely back.

I disagree. I think that they are absolutely NOT hinting at him being let go publicly so that they can be on record as giving him the whole two seasons to improve. However, Mike Bohn has not in any way said Embree will be back next year since his announcement last Saturday about changes coming. I think that they really really want him to succeed so that he can stay, but he is 3 blowouts away from a pink slip imo. We think it is ugly now, just wait until until CU gets punked twice more at Folsom in front of crickets.
