Embree making it worse-I thought I was done talking about him

I honestly just want us to get past Embree and Mac and all the baggage they are creating. I was not planning on writing any more about Embree and I honestly was at peace assuming that Embree really wasn't trying to play the race card or imply it had anything to do with his firing.

But I was wrong unfortunately.

http://www.dailycamera.com/top-sports/ci_22085337/jon-embree-probably-still-have-job-if-white

Embree was asked if he believes he would still be the head coach at Colorado if he was white.
"Probably," he said. "And, you'd have to base that on history. History says you get more than two. I'm not into researching all the other aspects of it, but how many coaches have been fired after two years with the same record?"

:bang:

this is not helping us attract potential coaches. Embree is ruining us even after he's gone.
Well I think he is making it harder for us to hire a black head coach for sure but I actually think he may be doing more damage to his own reputation.

When objective national media like ESPN say he and Mac are way off base to play the race card-that it is about performance-or lack there of-virtually no one looking at his record at CU would think race was involved in his firing. Given his on field performance followed by his post firing behaviour and attempts to slander his former school-who would actually want to hire him after that?

Maybe he is going to take his buyout and start a company with Mac?

I'm also not going to look into it, but I'll also go ahead and make an assumption: coaches with 4-21 records get fired.

From the same article they did the research for us:

However, Embree is one of nine coaches from Football Bowl Subdivision schools since 2004 to be fired after two years on the job. Six of the nine where white. Another, Ellis Johnson of Southern Mississippi, was fired this week after his first season. Johnson is white.
In two years at Colorado, Embree went 4-21. That's a similar record to the other two black head coaches recently fired after just two seasons: Turner Gill of Kansas (5-19) and Larry Porter of Memphis (3-21).

The six white coaches fired after two years had an average record of 5-19.

Hey Jon, you talked about six wins and a bowl game this year. How about taking some personal responsibility.

This is one of the things that angers me most. He gets fired and starts playing the race card and he and his crew are saying he didn't have a nice enough desk or bottled water and he was playing with a very young team.

Ok. He knew all that before he came out and stated the goal of a bowl game this year. So he knew what he had and felt he and his assistants could deliver in light of the resources CU was offering. So if he himself thought he could lead us to a bowl and instead one 1 game by 1 point and lost the rest by like 35 points per game, what gives????

Not sure what Embree is thinking. I didn't think his press conference was very bad, but what he's saying on these radio shows is almost unbelievable. I almost can't believe those quotes came from his mouth. Very disappointing.

On a lighter note, I totally agree with him that there's not a chance in hell that Chizik would have gotten the Auburn job if he were black.

And this doesn't even consider the fact that NONE of these other coachs' teams played like complete dog sh*t throught their losing campaigns! It was an embarrassment to even watch Embree's teams, as well as having to suffer through the losses.

All of this only confirms my opinion that Embree does not have the personality, temperament, or gravitas to be a head coach of a Div I football team. It increases my opinion that he should never have been hired in the first place one hundred fold.

Perfect. Pulling the race card is such bs. The last desperate cry that life is unfair when you've shown you're inept.

I don't know that I've ever seen someone so blind to his own failures.

When you go on a two year campaign to make Dan Hawkins look like he knew what he was doing you get fired. Period end of story.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out Jon. Read the DC article and see the proof that white coaches are every bit as accountable early on as black coaches. Face it, you sucked as a HC. Man up, quit whining like a little bitch, thank CU for an opportunity which you would never have had otherwise and move on.

I don't know how he ever recovers from this. Can't see him being a HC again in the next 10 years. His team was one of the worst in history, showed no improvement across the board, was blown out almost every game, then after being justifiably fired he starts claiming racisim and takes no responsibility for the product he put on the field.

Maybe someone would hire him as TE coach again but man he is burning bridges. Hope he is not expecting a reference from Bohn for his next job!

I finally listened to his interview with CJ. It's hard to believe that he's so delusional about the progress of the team. Even filled with emotion, he has to realize just how bad his team was.

i was thinking the same thing..this is making dan hawkins look like a saint!

Both "Water Bottle" Jon and "Jebus" Mac are engaged in a personal crusade, the un-intended consequences of which will make any AD think long and hard about hiring a black head coach.

What AD needs the hassle, if you can't fire a complete disaster of a HC, for fear of being called "racist"??

The result of their idiocy is the absolute and complete opposite of their intent! Yet, both of them are too "stuck-on-stoopid" to see that! That's what is tragic about this whole deal.

I hope Jon spends wisely, because he is now making himself virtually unemployable, with Mac's help he will be coaching HS in Germany for his next paying gig they have F-ed this up so bad.
Isnt it funny how the rest of the staff has completely distanced themselves from this and have remained silent, they must want a job in the next decade.

It is interesting that EB has been dead silent in all of this. He has been a ghost. I am betting that is because he has great prospects back in the NFL.
