Embree says no more all white uniforms for CU

Embo better start winning and fast. IMO, he's going too far into the tradition track. It's to the point where it's just too far of a pendulum swing from Hawk. I knew it would happen, but things do change.

Tradition is nice, but players like contemporary uniforms. Even tOSU is getting combat unis. While I don't like the uniforms UO wears at times, fact is some kids choose it over other similar schools because of the uniforms (as well as facilities), assuming all else is equal.

Yeah, it's already Dec. 21 and he was officially hired less than a month ago but the fact that he hasn't won a game yet is really starting to piss me off. :wow:

Uniforms???!!!!!!! Are you kidding me?
 
The all white uniforms looked like crap....was a student during the Barnett years and didn't like them then, and still don't like them now. The only schools that have a long tradition of wearing all white unifoms are Penn State and Texas and I'd rather not try to be like either school.

Alabama, Oklahoma. but, i'm with you. ours look like pajamas and summon thoughts of Baylor more than Penn State.
 
I believe most of the teams who wear all white uniforms have WHITE in their regular uniforms.


Nebraska home jersey = red jersey, white pants
Oklahoma home jersey = red jersey, white pants
Penn State home jersey = blue jersey, white pants
Alabama home jersey = red jersey, white pants
Texas home jersey = orange jersey, white pants
Baylor home jersey = green jersey, white pants


Colorado home jersey = black jersey, gold pants

I think you are a bit off base here NM. There is no such thing as being too opposite of Hawk. Embree is doing exactly what we want him to do which is bring back the tradition of Colorado Football. He needs to be decisive from day one on his vision and plan for the program. I for one applaud his immediate action on what is going to be expected at Colorado.

The uniforms don't bother me. I didn't like the all whites anyway. I like that he's bringing the tradition back in a lot of ways. I just also see almost an overreaction. Whether it's politics or football it just seems the swings can be too much. Change can be good. The all whites were not.

I was just reacting to "The players liked them but they’re an abomination as far as CU tradition goes." That's the part that bothers me and Embo might have never said such a thing. Bring tradition back, but also start new ones as well. Change is good, as long as you also remember where you came from. I guess it's just a holdover from Hawk, but I don't want an ideologue at HC. Hawk threw everything out and wanted to start completely over. Well you can't. Not with a program that is 100 years old. Ugh, what a disastrous 5 years.
 
We've been bitching about the way the uniforms have been devolving for a long time. It's good to have somebody come in and say "enough is enough". Black on gold at home. White on black on the road. Perfect. No more messing around. No gimmicks, tricks, motivational chicanery. This is our look, and we're sticking to it. I like that.
 
Given that we know what the unis will be like next season, the question should shift to the design of the unis...what will they be like?
 
Mike Bohn responded to my email after the Georgia game stating he plans on keeping the 1990 uniforms going forward. Based on who we have on our coaching staff I don't see any reason to believe we would be getting something drastically different.

That's the good news and I assume the road unis will change as well?
 
I hate everything about Boise State - from their vomit blue football field, to their Bozo the clown uniforms. The only good thing that comes out of Idaho are the potatoes. I'll take traditional over this trash any day. Another Nike nightmare - these and Oregon have got to be the worst.

The worst thing with WAC uniforms are the shadowed numbers. Seriously, do any AQ teams have this? Its almost as if Nike said, "okay, you are a non-AQ school, so you must sport amateurish shadowed numbers to remind everyone that you guys don't play big-boy football."

Oregon had a version of all white...but instead had a light silver pants, white jersey with silver trim, light silver helmets and maybe the cleats too. It was very pulled together and looked good. But CU's all white always looked horrible.
