"I'm disappointed. I'd like to get more of an opportunity but life ain't fair," Embree said in a phone interview.
Asked what Bohn told him, Embree said, "He said he didn't feel the trajectory was going in the right direction. I said what direction was it going when I got hired?"

Embree said he also told Bohn that as an African-American coach, few head coaching opportunities are offered, and all too often are quickly taken away.

"I mentioned that to Mike. I said, 'You know we don't get opportunities. At the end of the day, you're fired and that's it. Right, wrong or indifferent. Tyrone Willingham was the only one who got fired and got hired again. We get bad jobs and no time to fix them."

Playing the race card already? Get real. There wasn't another college offering Embree a HC job. He wasn't on our radar until he got interviewed. Go work hard and you'll get a shot someplace else.
 
:lol: Total assclown 46 points given up a game, 120th ranked offense in the country, worst recruiting class in the Pac 12, 1 less win in 2 yrs than Hawks last year but he's throwing out the race card. Hey Embree if you weren't a CU alum, you would never have had a head coaching job in Div 1 football.

Playing the race card is outrageous. I felt bad for him, but after reading that, I don't feel bad anymore. What is this "we" crap? His divisive attitude perpetuates problems. Take responsibility JE.
 
Whatever. We were 120/120 in both offense and defense. That's why you're gone, Jon.
 
I'm sure Embree had more to say than the two quotes in the article. He may very well have taken responsibility, but what gets printed is his reference to black coaches.
 
Surely he is hurting right now but I hope he comes out with a classy statement. He was given an opportunity that no other Div 1 school would have done. His performance was terrible-the team he led had the worst record in the history of CU, had the worst offense and defense in the country, had the worst incoming recruiting class for 2013 in the Pac 12...

He did not get it done. And not having enough time is BS too. There are a lot of coaches who take over bad teams and turn things around in the 1st or 2nd year. And this team showed no meaningful, consistent improvement from game to game. Very few if any ADs of any of the other 119 Div. 1 teams would have kept him and we were the only one of 120 teams that would have even hired him to begin with.

I am really disappointed with his response to his termination. He never really seemed to man up enough during the season with where he had messed up and this seems to be more of the same.

I didn't feel bad for him necessarily but I did feel his pain he is a Buff and bleeds black and gold. But to throw your beloved CU under he bus with this race card BS is sad and unfortunate. If he showed ANY improvement, any at all he would still be here. But this team wasn't just bad, it was dumpster fire bad. They regressed in every category and were blown the F&*k out all season long. That is why you were fired Jon. Not because you are black.
 
Yep. Disagree with the race card, but I know Embree's nerves are raw right now and I wouldn't be surprised if he was baited into the question.
 
Meh. Embree got asked a direct question and answered it honestly. I wish things would've worked out differently, but everyone needs to close this chapter and move on with the next coach.

Yes, I still know that. JE is gone because he is 120/120. Like what Daaah said above. That is it. Believe what you like.
 
I won't blame the guy for saying he didn't have enough time. He probably didn't, but it had to be done. Embree is a great guy and will land on his feet somewhere.
 
Embree is obviously very disappointed that it did not work out. I wouldn't judge him too harshly for what he says tonight.

Darrell Hazell at Kent State (2nd year coach) has them in a bowl for the first time in since the early 1970's and they are shockingly on the verge of cracking the BCS this year...

Embree should be embarrassed to use the race card...
