I'm very ok with Texas's 2005 team at #1. After what they did to our Buffs in the Big 12 Championship and then handling that USC superteam to win the title, it's kind of hard to argue. I'm not sure they were the best from start to finish, but by the end of the season they had gelled into an all-time champion.
  1. Texas 2005
  2. Florida 2008
  3. Miami 2001
  4. Florida State 2013
  5. USC 2004
  6. Alabama 2011
  7. Alabama 2012
  8. Alabama 2015
  9. Alabama 2009
  10. Florida State 1999
  11. Alabama 2017
  12. Clemson 2016
  13. Oklahoma 2000
  14. Ohio State 2014
  15. Auburn 2010
  16. USC 2003 (AP champ despite not playing in BCS championship)
  17. LSU 2003
  18. Tennessee 1998

Only a bunch of wannabe jocks could rank the national champions from the last 20 years and finish with a list with 21 teams on it.

1. 2001 Miami
2. 2005 Texas
3. 2005 USC (I know they can’t be included)
4. 2008 Florida.

I do think 2005 usc could give Miami a rub in a hypothetical game, can’t believe they threw that championship away against Texas.

'01 Miami by far is the best team since the start of the BCS era........but I'd like to think 2001 CU would have given them a better game than the Nubs did.

I gave them the edge too but there is just no way you can convince me that there is a team that was by far better than that 05 usc team. They has talent everywhere, 2 heisman winners and one of the best coaches in football as it turned out.

True, and whatifsports (that's a fun site for this kind of stuff) gave me 47-26 2005 USC just now.

Saying USC threw that game away ignores a generational performance by Vince Young.

2005 Texas against 2001 Miami would have been fun to watch.
Not ignoring, just saying I think usc should have won. I ranked Texas ahead of them a couple posts before that lol.

Um, CU got hammered by oregon in their bowl game.

Different situation. GB spent the run up to the Oregon bowl game bitching about the fact that CU should have been in the NCG. I'm fully confident that is why the team came out flat and played like **** to start that game. Credit to Oregon, they were ready for us, but I feel strongly that was a great example of one team wanting to be there and the other not so much.

Miami had better speed and players than oregon, I don't see CU fairing much better but who knows.

I personally think all the Alabama success has diluted their “best ever” status. I can’t even honestly say which (bama) team was better than the other but I do see one of them beating the top 5 of this list.
