Colt Lyerla's string of bad headlines continues. A warrant for the arrest of the former Oregon tight end has been issued after Lyerla escaped from the Washington County Community Correction Center on Thursday. Lyerla, according to the Oregonian, was serving a six-month sentence. Lyerla was previously convicted of forgery and drug possession charges, though some were dropped as part of a plea deal.
Now, however, Lyerla can add a felony second-degree escape charge to his record.
According to the paper, "County workers found an open window and an escape in progress. All residents were counted except for Lyerla." Lyerla's room was on the first floor of the facility, which is of the minimum-security variety and sits across the street from the county jail.
Lyerla was a blue-chip recruit out of high school who signed with the Ducks in 2011. He ended his career, once filled with promise, with 565 yards and 11 receiving touchdowns while splitting some time between tight end and running back. He went undrafted in the 2014 draft before joining the Green Bay Packers.
Lyerla's previous off-field issues include drug possession and a suspicion of a DUI, the latter of which was dropped.
