Former Buff puts his foot in his mouth.

There was already a thread on this in Barzil [h=1]Thread: ted johnson has a death wish? [/h]But yes he did open the lips and insert the foot fully. It sounds like he just got going in a conversation and forgot that he was on radio where anything you say can eventually get back to who you are saying it about.

I would think its a fine line being loose enough on the air to be interesting but controlled enough to not say something like this that comes back to get you.

On the other hand I'm also glad to hear that after being so far down that Ted is back to working and has regained his sense of humor. From being locked in a room for days on end to doing a radio show is a huge step for him.

And I think he will do what he has to do to patch things up with Vince Wolfork and his wife, looks like he is already trying.

Last week he was on with CJ and Crack Man, or whatever his name is. He talked about "overcoming" his issues. I know he had concussion syndrome. But he said something about finally being clean. Made it sound like he had drug issues or something. Anyone know anything about that? At any rate, he has a radio show in Houston.

There were some articles a while back.

The post-concussion syndrome gave him raging headaches, to deal with the headaches he turned to increasingly powerful and larger quantities of prescription painkillers. He became highly addicted to the painkillers which also lost some of their effectiveness against the headaches. Long story short he ended up a drug-addicted, highly depressed guy with debilitating headaches. He spend days on end locked in his home with the lights off sinking further into depression. At points he became suicidal.

I don't remember exactly what he did to bring himself out of the tailspin and the cycle but he has worked very hard to overcome the issues that he has and return to as normal a life as possible. Some of his former teammates have been involved in the process.

He is another one of those cases that even something like this verbal slip is good news because it means he is out and functioning after we almost lost him.

Then ripping him is bull****. He deserves some understanding.

He was asked a question. He answered. Insensitive? Sure. But honest. I like honesty. We get so little of it anymore.

Good thing most of us are never on the radio. Or are celeb enough that anyone would care what we say.

^^This^^

I say enough dumb stuff that if I were on the radio everyone would eventually be mad at me, that is if anyone cared enough to listen.

Apparently Ted took responsibility for what he said right away and has reached out to Vince Woolfork and his wife both publicly and privately. I doubt that anything anyone can say will make him feel worse than how he feels about calling out a teammate in a way that hurt him publicly.

There are still differences between 'honesty' and 'respect'. Especially with a former teammate. Regardless, he should have been honest and told the person who asked the question that the question was disrespectful to all players and thier wives.

And kudos to the other guy.......not all guys making millions playing ball can look past weight and looks and love a girl for who she is, and not just what she looks like. Too many marry the hot girl and then figure out she is a total wench. (Of course, many of them are type A egotistical arsewipes, so they are looking for trophies and not love anyway)

Anyway, Ted shouldn't of said it, he knows it, he will fix it, and mad props to the other guy for defending his wife.

"Don't argue with an idiot, he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience."

This is complete bull****. First, it's opinion, not truth. Second, it only shows his utter ignorance.

Oh stop. We call out ugly women on this site all the time. Lets not hold Ted to a higher standard than we hold ourselves.

You're equating anonymous internet idots with a guy calling a former teammate's wife ugly. Good call.

So because we are "anonymous" there is no hypocrisy? Gotcha. Does that mean we can be racists, too?

Oh noes. The dreaded moniker of "weaksauce". I guess I've been put in my place now.

I bet Ted Johnson never called anybody "weaksauce". Well, at least not on the radio.
