Got some tix for the asu game from denver_sc, so I was able to take my 13 year old son to the game!We had a great time. Traffic was insane and we showed up much later than we wanted. The crowd was so big we had to park much further away from the stadium than I thought, but it was fun getting jazzed for the game.
We both bought new CU hats, listened to the band, and headed to our seats.
Game was awesome!
PlAce looked to be a sellout, and the crowd was so hyped up.
We all know what happened at the game, so I won't go into that.
My son had bought a mini helmet a few days prior to the game. He kept telling me all day how he wanted to get montez and bobo's autographs on it. I kept telling him it would be very hard to do, but we would try.
I figured his chances were slim to none on this, but he's 13. Can't take away his dreams.
After the game the students rushed the field. He asked if we could join them, so I said sure. Within a few minutes we were on the field.
Players and fans were everywhere, and all the players came to right where we were to sing the fight song with the band! It was awesome!
When they finished, wouldn't you know it, Steven Montez walked right at us! Tyler cautiously looked at him (I'm 6'3" 220 but he DWARFS me) and asked for An autograph. Montez was very very nice and signed the helmet and we took some pix.
When he was done, a little kid maybe 5 years old was just staring at him. Montez got on his knee and said hello. The kid put his fist and thumb up and didn't say a word. Montez put his thumb on the kids thumb. Then the little kid started playing itsey bitsy spider, and Steven played along for a minute or two!
As we moved off the field, we ran straight into Bryce Bobo! My son asked for his autograph, and he complied! He spoke to my son do a few minutes after I told him he was tylers hero...which he is. Every time we watch the buffs he raves about him AnD how good is.
We were stoked! We made our way off the field and were walking past the tunnel and tyler said," I can't believe I got Montez' autograph!"
At that time, a voice from behind snapped at him," what did you say about Steven Montez?" We turned and there was a lady and man following us. Tyler said," I A said I can't believe I got his autograph." She said,"oh, well then you should know that I'm his mother." She showed the back of her shirt that says 'Montez mom' on the back. We spoke for a good 15 minutes while she was waiting for him to come out.
She kept saying that he's as good a sister sefo, but 'only a freshman.' She is Very proud of him.
We came home, and my son found Montez on Facebook and friended him. The next day Steven accepted the friend request and the two have been talking online ever since. He's one of the nicest people on the world, and we are now officially his biggest fans!
