Especially with the NCAA lacrosse championship tournament only consisting of 26 teams, assume this game is a BIG opportunity for the Buffs to pick up a nice resume- building win / potential informal "tie-breaker" over #19 (Coaches' poll)/ #17 (Inside Lacrosse poll) ranked VTech if the Buffs have to compete for one of the 13 at-large spots come tournament selection time.

Beat the Hokies!

Well, I'll be damned. No idea Tech was ranked or was visiting.

Article on the win-

BOULDER – Playing its third top-25 match-up in five games, the Colorado lacrosse team knew it needed to make a statement. And that is exactly what the No. 22 Buffaloes did as they defeated No. 19 Virginia Tech in dominating style (18-3) on Sunday afternoon at Kittredge Field.

The win moved the Buffs to 3-2 overall as they enter Pac-12 Conference play next week, while the Hokies are now 4-3.

Three Buffs accounted for 13 of CU's 18 goals. Junior Miranda Stinson tallied five goals, while senior Carly Cox and junior Samantha Nemirov each had four goals.

But it was not all offense as CU's defense held strong and allowed a season-best three goals against an offense that entered the game averaging 13.17 goals per game. Redshirt sophomore Julia Lisella, in just her second career start, stopped a career-high 11 shots.
...

DEFENSE: CU's defense stifled Virginia Tech, holding the Hokies to a season-low three goals.

KEY STATISTICS: Colorado had 22 of its 25 shots on goal. The Buffs led in all of the major stat categories. They won 12 of 22 draw controls, recorded 18 of 32 ground balls and had 11 saves to the Hokies' four. CU also cleared on 23-of-24 attempts.

And now it's on to the inaugural Pac 12 women's lacrosse season (AND what will be the 1st GAME of Pac 12 lax play ever), with a great test*** to start off conference play!
(***Like the Buffs, the #25 Cardinal will also be coming off a recent "best win of the year", as they went to Durham and easily handled #16 Duke on Friday 15-5.)

GO BUFFS!

Left at half. Buffs dominated. Team is not very tall this year, but the speed, quickness and stick skills are elite. Very balanced team, too. A couple stars, but you can’t key on them too much or the rest of the squad will kill you.

BOULDER — After a dominating 18-3 victory against then-No. 19 Virginia Tech on Sunday, March 4, the Colorado Buffaloes moved up in all three of the national polls. CU's highest ranking is 15th in the Cascade/Inside Lacrosse Media Poll. The Buffs (3-2) are also 19th in the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association and are 20th in the NIKE/U.S. Lacrosse Magazine Poll.

(With Stanford being so close to the Buffs in the rankings, it looks to be a VERY important home game this Friday.)
