Interestingly, both CU & UMass are currently led in scoring by freshman guards. My bet is that Kennedy is the better of the two.
Let's hope the Buffs are able to cut down on the turnovers and that nobody gets into early foul trouble early as there are only nine players on the roster.
I'm not going to go too far out on a limb here in predicting a Buff win in tonight's game. Saturday night I am not so sure (assuming the Buffs play Florida).

Just curious, so took a look at live stats, and looks like Ball State is hanging tough so far, tied at 15 late in the 1st quarter.

After Florida gets the win, the Buff's game has started. It's 7-6 UMass midway through the 1st quarter.

12-12 @ 1st media timeout. 8 points from Swan, but Buffs not defending well.

Looks like Beard-Fails is in street clothes tonight.

Buffs poor defending is the difference so far. UMass getter too much dribble penetration and one-on-one in the interior.

Swan was perfect from the floor and line.

21-19 halftime lead for the Buffs. Seems like more of an offense than a defense problem in this one.

End of 1st quarter. I'm really having trouble getting used to WBB being quarters instead of halves. :D

I'm thinking is actually be the 1st quarter score, and live stats just hasn't been tweaked to use "quarter" rather than "half" in the front page? (The play by play tabs have that score as the quarter ending score.)

Buffs pulling ahead a little- 31-23 midway through the 2nd quarter.

Robinson now scoring in bunches by getting to the basket.

Buffs able to push the pace in recent minutes.

Has anyone got the stream working? (It's not for me, but it could just be a local bandwidth issue of mine.)

Great 2nd quarter. Buffs head into half (for real this time) up 47-29.

Alexis Robinson looking like an AA in the 2nd quarter!

Buffs clamped down defensively, and pushed the ball. Buffs score 26 points in the quarter to UMass's 10.

Oh, swan's having a great game too. I believe she's perfect from the floor and line.

Buffs started the 3rd quarter slowly, but 2 quick treys and they are up 58-34 midway thru.

Biggest news of the night - Jamee missed a shot and a pair of fts in dying seconds.

Game never in doubt after 2nd quarter, Buffs 90-63.

This one was important. Got to get that Florida game next and the non-conference should end up with a great record.

I think you jinxed her.
I was worried about this when I started posting about her stellar performance shooting the ball. But it took a long time until the jinx took effect.

Still, she had a tremendous game on both ends and all the shots she took were within the offense and wise. She really didn't force anything and was taking what the defense was making available. Scoring 23 points with only 8 shots from the floor is amazing efficiency.

Let's hope she keeps this up.

This was probably the Buffs' best game to date. Not perfect, especially defensively, but not bad either.
The Buffs effectively put this one away in the second quarter. They were able to up the pace and UMass wasn't able to respond. It was in this quarter that Robinson went nuts on offense. I think she scored 13 or so in the quarter.

I know I have written several times about how special Robinson and Leonard are going to be and to some extent already are, and tonight Robinson was really something. She has the rare ability to use her speed while playing under control. She sees the floor well and takes advantage of what the defense gives her without being selfish. In the 4th quarter tonight she stole and inbound pass (CU wasn't pressing, she just anticipated very well) and then hit a circus shot layup between two UMass players. It all happened in the blink of an eye.

Tonight Leonard wasn't at her best and still the Buffs won easily. Kennedy struggled with he shooting and didn't seem confident at times. Still she ended up with 6 assists and late in the game she absolutely baited a defender on a drive and was fouled while making a layup. It was a very intelligent play.

Lots of Buffs rebounded very well tonight. Zoe Correal had 10, and I was also impressed with Makenzie Ellis who repeatedly blocked out and grabbed 7 in only 18 minutes (she fouled out).

Tonight CU played with a lot of confidence and was able to overcome a poor start to the game as well as the 3rd quarter. There were times that UMass seemed to have them stymied by playing some zone, but eventually CU was able to figure it out and get points. Although Jamee and Alexis were standouts interms of scoring I felt that the ball movement and confidence in the offensive sets was very good.

Still to many turnovers and the defense was off and on. If they can get consistent on defense while cutting down on turnovers they'll be able to put themselves in position to win the rest of their non-conference games. Numbers/depth are going to be issues as the season goes on. Still not sure they are ready for the top-tier of the Pac 12.
