game tonight

I like this Alec Burks kid, he will be a good player for us for hopefully four years. Very well rounded scoring right now, about five guys either at 10, 9, or 8.

Even though is against warm-up competition, it's nice to have a winning feeling in Buff Land. Particularly in Bball! I'm getting my tix for CU-Texass in Austin in the next couple of days!

I think this was said after the last game, but it is clear that inside presence is our biggest issue. We still don't get a lot of offensive rebounds and seem to give up a fair amount. Relphorde is a huge addition as his height and strength combo allows him to pick up some big boards, but we don't have any strong towers down there to really snag some.

Historically speaking, Coppin State's been pretty decent. They get good talent out of Baltimore. This is looking like a nice win for a young Buff team.

Buffs struggled with some of these games the last few seasons. Sounds like things are looking up

We lost our defensive intensity in the last 10 minutes, but that's to be expected with a 30+ point lead. And it's probably good because it gives Coach B something to bitch about. He was talking in his postgame interview about how you may have a bad shooting night but defense doesn't slump. Allsome.

Who else is a huge fan of this 1-3-1 trapping defense? I'd love to see this become our trademark at CU kind of like Syracuse has their 2-3 matchup zone.

I agree with you. Rebounding and an inside defensive presence will be our biggest issues. We are extremely weak and unathletic inside. Relphorde is very versatile, but we really need one or two big athletes at PF and C.

That being said, the depth is a ton better this year. Lots of guys who can shoot and play some D. I absolutely loved the ball movement tonight. That's why they had so many uncontested 3s. They were swinging it from the inside out and reversing around the perimeter. Also liked the defensive intensity and the way Bzdelik was switching Ds and running the trap out of the match up zone. It was fun to watch. :smile2:

It'll be interesting to see how they do when they step up in competition.

Played pretty dang good....nice outing, some excellent long distance shooting...all & all, I came away quite impressed

It's nice to have a team with a winning record

I think my favorite stat is the free throw shooting % .....85% in the first game and 90.5% tonight, with all the starters hitting at 100%! How many times have we seen abysmal numbers on ft shooting where good ft shooting might have made for a winnable game?? Its indicative of how focused these guys are playing.

Very very good point. We lost something like 11 games last year by 4 or less including a couple overtime games. Improved free throw shooting plus some added experience should help us close out some close ones this year.

I just looked at the stats from Friday's game tonight and saw that Corey hit 16/16 FTs! That is a great game right there. Helps us control the pace of the game while getting the other team in foul trouble, plus easy points. That is a very efficient to go 5/8 and get 26 points.

I think this team will surprise this year. Not anything huge, but we will win some good games and could pull a couple big ones.
