The Buffs start off this weekend with another CRUCIAL game, as they get another opportunity for a win over a Top 25 team this Friday against the #16 Trojans, who like the Buffs will I'm sure be VERY hungry to get a win. (Looks like the Trojans have dropped 2 of their last 3 games, both losses coming to Stanford, so are 5-2 in conference. Stanford leads the Pac standings at 6-1, while the Buffs are 2nd at 4-1.)

Note - For those planning on attending the 2nd game, wanted to highlight that the Sunday ASU game is at the soccer (Prentup) Field as opposed to the normal home of the lacrosse Buffs, Kittredge Field. (For those not following that closely Prentup, I assume due to its MUCH larger seating capacity, will be where the Buffs host the inaugural Pac 12 Lacrosse Tournament later this month. This game therefore is, I assume, for the Buff customer support and television folk, a "rehearsal" to help discover anything that needs to be smoothed out before the Tournament starts.)

BOULDER – After suffering an overtime loss to No. 16 Southern California on March 16, the Colorado Buffaloes knew they would need to have a strong performance on Friday afternoon. That is exactly what happened. The 16th-ranked Buffs used a 7-1 first half to upend the Trojans (7-6, 5-3 Pac-12), recording the 10-7 upset in snowy and cold conditions at Kittredge Field.

CU (8-4, 5-1 Pac-12) was led by senior attacker Darby Kiernan, who tied her career-high with eight points in the win as she recorded five goals, three on free-position attempts, and three assists.

UP NEXT: Colorado will be back in action on Sunday, April 8, at Prentup Field against Arizona State. First draw is at 12 p.m.

QUOTES:
Head Coach Ann Elliott
From slow start against DU to a good start today
"I thought we came out strong defensively. We stuck to the game plan and were offensively aggressive. We really just attacked from the beginning and that's what we talked about all week, and I thought they did a good job in the first half."

On the hurdle on beating USC
"USC is obviously a great team and a team we have struggled with in the past. At the same time, it is a huge conference game for us. We are looking to continue to compete and finish strong down the stretch this year in the second half. It is a huge win for us."

(Didn't get to watch the game, but the stats show the Buffs with a HUGE 15-4 advantage in draw controls, which must have been a huge key to the win.)

Congrats to the team on another solid win. (Nice experience for a lot of the lightly used players (many freshmen) who got to play quite a bit of the 2nd half as many of the starters got a lot of rest.)
