As #20*** ranked Buff lacrosse (Last season 13-6 overall, 5-2 in the Pac 12) start their biggest year of change since their inaugural season 12 years ago, with a new conference and new home field coming up, they start off playing a couple of their most familiar opponents and main rivals. 1st off is a trip to Palo Alto to face off against the Stanford Cardinal (1-0) tomorrow (Thursday) afternoon. Then, they head across the Bay for a neutral site contest at Cal Berkeley Sunday afternoon against the USC Trojans (0-1).
(***Re the rankings, the majority of teams already started their seasons last week. In the pre-season coaches' poll rankings, CU started off at #23, but moved up to a tie to #20 after week 1. Stanford went up from #20 to #15 and USC went from #20 to unranked after the Cards whipped the Trojans 18-6 in their season openers.)

Not that it anything, but In last season's final NET rankings (dated 5/26/24; available at https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/lacrosse-women/d1/ncaa-womens-lacrosse-rpi), CU ended up at #24, while Stanford was #15 and USC #28.

Looks like the Stanford game is scheduled to be on the ACC's streaming platform (ACCNX), while no video is showing right now for the USC game. (Further info and links for media options available near the bottom of this post.)

Go Buffs!!!

Vs. Stanford
-Scheduled to be shown on the ACC's streaming platform at https://www.espn.com/espnplus/catalog/461f2718-47e3-3cea-9cd2-1a2b52fb15b3, I assume for those with the appropriate subscription. (It does look like the game is available through the ESPN app and Watch ESPN websites, but it's not clear whether my ESPN+ subscription is enough. From a web search, looks like those whose cable/ satellite/ cord cutting subscription includes access to the ACC Network, that may also give you access to the game.)
Vs. USC - No stream or other video coverage showing as of now.

I'm heading off, but looks like this one has totally gotten away from the Buffs and it's 10-14 Stanford with only 1:28 left in the game. (Looking at live stats, looks like this was a tale of 2 halves, with CU coming out strong and having a 5 goal lead (6-1) 4 minutes into the 2nd quarter, and they still had a 3 goal lead at halftime. However, Stanford outscoring CU 9-2 so far in the 2nd half has decided this one in the Buffs' season opener.)

Looks like CU was never in today's game, losing every quarter and falling 6-15 to the Trojans.

Thankfully it's EARLY season and the team has time to fix any issues.

With my travels, fell behind on my Allbuffs stuff and I believe for the 1st time didn't set up a thread for a lax team game. as the team played #3 Northwestern yesterday in Evanston. With a tough start to the season last weekend, it's probably not surprising the result yesterday was what it was.

Hopefully with the help of some home cooking (and of course good practice) the team will get itself win #1 when it opens up its home slate at its new home (Prentup Field) next Saturday when Army comes to town.
