Lacrosse (#24 ranked in the preseason coaches' (IWLCA) poll) hopefully becomes the last Buff team*** to start action this academic year, as they're scheduled to head south to visit Louisville Thursday and Vanderbuilt Sunday.
(***Outdoor track and field is still about a month from starting so will be the last season to start, but assume all the healthy Buffs who will participate in that sport have already been competing in either cross country and/ or indoor track and field.)

While the Buffs are opening action this season, both their opponents are coming off season opening losses against top ranked teams this past Saturday.

Coverage for Thursday's game is scheduled for the ACC Network (and via streaming through ESPN for those who have ACC Network as part of their , while Sunday's game with Vandy looks like it will be available on their Youtube channel. (See links below.)

BOULDER —The No. 24 Colorado Buffaloes will start the 2021 lacrosse season on the road this week, facing a pair of non-conference opponents.

They will start the season on Thursday, February 18, against the University of Louisville in Louisville, Ky., at 1 p.m. MT/3 p.m. ET, before traveling to Nashville, Tennessee, for a 10 a.m. MT/12 p.m. ET contest on February 21, against Vanderbilt University. This will be the first time CU has met either opponent and is the sixth tie in program history the Buffs are staring the campaign away from home.

The Buffaloes return 10 starters from the 2020 season which saw CU record a 3-2 mark. Charlie Rudy, the team's leading scorer from that team, returns and looks to pick up where she left off with the rest of the team hungry to make an impact. Rudy recorded 20 goals and added four assists for a team-best 24 points. Chloe Willard and Sadie Grozier each scored 10 goals while Zoe Lawless added another nine.

Game notes - I couldn't find any out yet as I type this.

The Buffs couldn't overcome an ~21 minute scoring draught that spanned both sides of the half, and lose 9-12.

played better in the 2ns half. The Louisville Goalie stood on her head and CU was just sloppy with turnovers. I expect a better effort on sunday. don't expect the coach is real happy after this one

Looks like this could be a tight one, as it's 5 all at the half.

(For those not watching, the game is being held indoors in a fieldhouse today, even though it's a nice sunny day, due to the amount of snow on the ground in Nashville.)
