Another great opportunity for the Buffs to pick up a win or two against two of the top teams in the country.

Go Buffs!!!

(As a sign of the Pac 12's strength, the Buffs are currently in a 3 way tie for 7th (with USC and Utah) in the conference standings at 3-5. Of the 6 teams ahead of them, ALL of them are ranked, with the lowest being #19 ASU.)

Buffs had a really slow start (they only had 4 points through the 1st 6-1/2 minutes or so), but close it up some late in the 1st quarter. (Note - live stats still have the last opponents (Utes) listed as the visiting team, but the score still seems accurate.)

got to defend the 3 better. Oregon St is shooting lights out while CU is struggling from the 3 point line

The Buffs are down at the half by 9. As @Bmixer indicates, OSU is replicating the Buffs last home opponent (the Utes) in shooting a ridiculous % from 3 (8-12 or .667 so far) vs. 3-13 for the Buffs. Assume it also hasn't helped the Buffs that Jaylen Sherrod picked up a 2nd foul pretty early (~8 minute mark) of the 2nd quarter. On the bright side, she should be a little fresher than normal, so hopefully can help lead the team to a strong 2nd half. (Overall, the Buffs have been called for 9 fouls vs. the Beav's 4, so they don't seem to be getting any home court advantage so far.)

Really disappointing tonight. Looked like we didn’t show up and were out coached. It looked like the players gave up, the starters body language on the bench was terrible. Hopefully they can bounce back Saturday

That was about the worst game I have seen the WBB team play in quite some time. Agree with BeABuff's observations. And unfortunately Saturday is Oregon. If Sabrina, Sabally and Hebard all can't play the Buffs might stand a chance.

Terrible showing. Only good thing was 4 turnovers.

If JR can't figure out how to defend the 3, every team in the Pac 12 is going to shoot 3's and let the game go how the 3's go. We have not had an answer for the 3 point shot this entire season so I'm not expecting a miracle.

Oregon will be worse.

Can't believe the team was unprepared for a game, but they were not ready to play from tip-off.

then somebody needs to go to a coaching clinic and learn how to defend the 3. If another team is decent from the 3 then Cu struggles. have to learn how to make those shooters uncomfortable
What worked for me was running shooters off their spot, and making them put it on the deck. It worked with most, not all.

Colorado is 342nd out of 348 teams in Division I. That tells me CU is not doing much right when it comes to defending the 3 point shot.

Going into Friday, the Buffs ranked 342nd nationally – out of 348 Division I teams – in 3-point percentage defense, allowing 37.0 percent from beyond the arc. In their last two home games, the Buffs’ opponents have hit 29 of 42 (69.0 percent) from 3-point range. … …

I think a lot of it is how the rules are for shooters now. It's like folks are scared to contest the shots, for obvious reasons. There are ways to contest without getting in the landing area, or touching them. It's harder to do now, when they can stick out legs, jump into you, or act like they got shot by a ****ing bazooka. :D I've always seen acting, flopping in basketball. It's way worse now than I remember, though, men's or women's.

why does this team struggle so much to defend the 3. It seems every year, the same problem arises and teams kill CU with the 3 point shot.
For sure. I think we all understand that a team's going to give up some open looks in the course of a game off of quick transition, paint penetration kickouts and offensive rebounds. It happens. But when I watch our women's team play I'm often shaking my head at how many open looks are given up off perimeter ball movement or just a slight pace push in primary or secondary transition. It's a huge problem. Match the hell up and get in someone's face.

not going to say much about the game because it would not be nice. On to he next one and for the love of all that is holy learn how to defend the 3 a little bit
