PULLMAN, Wash. — The Colorado women's basketball team heads back on the road this week, looking to get back into the win column after a difficult homestand. The Buffaloes will open play on Friday at Washington State (8 p.m. MT) and then head over to Washington on Sunday (1 p.m. MT).

Colorado (14-7, 3-7 Pac-12) will need to start anew, leaving losses to No. 10 Oregon State and No. 3 Oregon in the past. CU averaged just 52.5 points in the two games and shot 29.8 percent on the weekend. The Beavers and the Ducks bullied their way through the weekend, but the Buffs hurt themselves in multiple instances.

"I know I've said this before, but we turned on the learning lessons from the game [Oregon] and so many of them [mistakes] are just totally in our control," head coach JR Payne said. "It was our communication, three people knowing what we're doing two people not. It's things like that that we need to continue to get better, but so far so good this week."
...

To put a stop to CU's current skid, the Buffs will have to do something they have only done once against the Cougars. That's win in Pullman. Colorado's lone win in Beasley Coliseum dates to Jan. 7, 2012 (57-56). Colorado is just 1-7 on the road against WSU and 7-10 overall.

Borislava Hrstova leads the Cougars with her 18.8 points per game this season. She is Washington State's top all-time scorer between both the men's and women's teams, totaling 2,113 career points. Despite her success. the Cougars are also just 3-7 in the Pac-12. WSU has lost five of its last six, breaking a four-game losing streak with a 92-66 win over Cal.

The Buffs close the weekend with Washington on Sunday. The Huskies opened the conference season 2-0 but have since lost eight straight games. Washington hosts Utah on Friday.

All of Colorado's Pac-12 games will be televised on the Pac-12 Network this season. You can also catch the game on the Colorado Radio Network with the TuneIn app.

(Washington's schedule had a different link, but that went to their prior (Utah) game's thread. The above seems to work (I just increased the number at the end of the address by 1.)

After a VERY tight 1st quarter with neither team gaining more than a few point lead, it's 19-18 Buffs.

Buffs seemingly can't make ANYTHING (including open layups) in the 3rd, along and a few bad turnovers, leads to the dreaded single digit (8 point 3rd) quarter, but the defense largely staying solid, so they hold onto a 46-41 lead going into the final quarter.

this coaching staff should run a clinic on how to give up 3s and give up leads late. This is a horrid loss maybe the worst of the season along with Utah at home.

Oh well- this one hurts. The final is 59-69 as the Buffs can't hold a 15 point 3rd quarter lead. (It was closer than the final indicates as the Buffs intentionally fouled a lot late.)

My feeling is the 3rd period was key in this one, as some missed layups, along with bad free throw shooting (10-22 for the game, 1-6 in the 3rd), let WSU have hope and get back into it, and then the cougars, one of the better 3 point shooting teams in the Pac, hit 3 in a row late to seal the W.

This YOUNG team needs to shake this one off, learn, recover and get ready to take it to the dawgs in a couple days.

Was able to watch starting in the 3rd. Buffs couldn't run their offense effectively an were missing from the floor and line. Turnovers didn't help either.

Gives up 15 point lead from 3rd quarter to end of game. Inexcusable.

Still can't guard the 3.

Still can't hit a basket consistently. It's deep enough in the season that youth is no longer a valid excuses. Free throw % inexcusable.

Hate to say it, but wouldn't be surprised if they are done winning for the season.

Again, why did Jank not see a single minute of action?

Play Jank!

The Buffs have put a significant dent into their 13 point half time deficit as they're down 5 going into the 4th quarter- hope they finish strong!

Don't understand what is going on. Sadly. I don't think they will win another game and will finish in last place in the Pac yet again.

I've watched most CU WBB games and a number of others. It seems like every PAC 12 team except the Buffs have improved as the season has gone on. Buffs have regressed or, at best, stayed the same and so are falling behind the teams that are improving. Very disappointing weekend in Washington. Both of these were winnable games that they blew. So IF Buffs can win at home this week against Cal, they will manage to at least be WNIT eligible even if that's their last W of the season. But that's a big IF. Cal is one of the teams that have clearly improved since Buffs managed to beat them in Berkeley.

Disappointing but not unexpected. This team lacks leadership from the players as well as the coaches. Coaches blame players and players are playing for themselves. People celebrated this team when they were beating bad teams and celebrating like they were ncaa tournament wins. A lot of progress was made in 16-17 and 17-18 but it was driven by 1 or 2 players, I had hoped it was a coaching or cultural change but unfortunately that’s not the case.
