BOULDER – Just eight games remain on the schedule for JR Payne and the Colorado women's basketball team. The Buffaloes will host Washington State on Friday (7 p.m. MT), marking the first of its final four contests at the CU Events Center.

Colorado began the season 10-0 at home and has since dropped the last two to No. 2 Stanford and Utah. The Buffs' final push to the finish will rely heavily on the team's ability to defend the home court.

"We want to win every single game no matter what," Payne explained. "We didn't get to play 18 league games to this point. We've played eight so we're exactly halfway through league [play]. We're going to make sure that we're doing everything that we're in control of to have a positive outcome for every single game."
...

After this weekend, the Buffs head off on a second four-game road trip. The Buffs will head off to Cal (Feb. 11) and Stanford (Feb. 13) and then make their way back to the Golden State to face UCLA (Feb. 18) and Southern California (Feb. 20).

"Every game is another opportunity to either start a new winning streak, get the team chemistry or just to grow as a team," Wetta noted. "Every game is equally exciting and presents a new opportunity for our team."

CU will return home to close the season against Oregon (Feb. 23) and Oregon State (Feb. 26).

Thad Anderson and former Buff Kami Carmann-Snyder will have the Pac-12 Network call on Friday. Cory Lopez and CU Hall of Famer Shelley Sheetz will be on the Colorado Radio Network starting with pregame at 6:30.

Unless her flight got cancelled, Shelley Sheetz was planning to be out of town this weekend. The weather may have changed that.

JR has to go. can not win in conference. No excuses for this team taking a dive like this

My FB rant from last night. I said this throughout the game on Twitter.

This game was not lost by officiating. It was lost by extremely poor shooting, no perimeter defense and getting out rebounded. None of those are on the officials. It didn’t help to let a player on the opposing team get a career high. The non conference schedule was not competitive. Doesn’t matter we were the last undefeated team in the country. The team is not playing to win. Can’t count on anyone to score game in and game out. My rant for this game

If memory serves, Mya didn't score in the 2nd half. I will say they shot free throws well last night. If they hadn't done that, it would have been a 10-15 point loss.

I will watch the rest of the games but don't expect to enjoy many.

I will also be watching the great Caitlin Clark and the Iowa team since I get the Big Ten Network.

Miller, Sadler Set to Lead Buffs Against Washington

CU's offseason additions prepare to take on former teammates

BOULDER – Colorado's offseason additions in Quay Miller and Tameiya Sadler will help lead the Buffaloes into action against their former Washington teammates on Sunday (Noon MT).

The two former Huskies have made big contributions for the Buffs in their first season and it's a welcome sight for CU fans, coaches and players alike.

The Buffs and Huskies played met twice last season with Miller and Sadler both doing damage against their future team. Miller had 23 points in the two games, while Sadler combined for 34 points against the Buffs. Both players hit a pair of 3-pointers in the Pac-12 Tournament meeting, with Sadler going off for 18 points and eight assists.

"We don't talk about that [game]," head coach JR Payne joked about Miller and Sadler. "We joke about it and they'd say something. They both are wonderful. Everybody loves them."

"I mean I say it sometimes around Coach T [Toriano Towns]," Sadler chimed in. "I like to give him hard time sometimes."
...

Sunday's game will be on the Pac-12 Networks with Thad Anderson and Kami Carmann-Snyder. Cory Lopez will be on the Colorado Radio Network and 630 KHOW locally, starting with pregame at 11:30 a.m. MT.

I would love to have been in the locker room at halftime. The team that played the 2nd half looked nothing like the team that played the 1st half. The team that played in the first half would have lost this game. The team that played in the 2nd half can win basketball games.

Let's hope we continue to see the team that played in the 2nd half.

The team still can't shoot free throws.

Mya got an intentional foul in the first half that did not look like an intentional foul to me from watching on television. The elbow happened in the flow of the game and there was nothing intentional about it.

The Mya of her freshman season did throw elbows but she has learned she can't do that.

Doesn't have anything to do with CU Women's basketball, but here goes. I saw highlights of this young woman from Iowa's team yesterday I believe. Let's just say she went off. First half, she didn't shoot very well. Second half, different story. Forgot her first name, last name was Clark I'm pretty sure. Anyway, she hit like two or three from thirty six feet. Not all she did, ended up with 46. I just got to thinking how much it's changed. Had I pulled some bull**** like that, it better be a buzzer beater. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been playing, whether it went in or not wouldn't matter.

Her name is Caitlan Clark. She is a sophomore. Yesterday she had 46 points and 10 assists, while they played with 7 players so she played 40 minutes. She has the green light to shoot from anywhere because her shots go in.

The coach's strategy is to outscore the other team so they don't play a lot of defense. Yesterday their best rebounder was out. That hurt. The result might have been different if she could play but give Michigan the credit. They aren't ranked in the top 10 for no reason.

Yeah, first time I'd seen either team, both really good.

Iowa probably would have won if they had their full team. It's tough to play a really good team with 7 players. Clark got them within 5 points with her 25 points in the 4th quarter but she wasn't getting much help from her teammates.

She is so competitive and just as cocky. That's another reason I like her. Her cockiness drives the fans on the road crazy.

I don't mind players being cocky, men or women, if they can back it up. The ones that talk **** to just talk it, I could do without. Thing is, if you're an opposing player and don't like the **** talking, do something about it.
