Is about to see his minutes jump, this is a good opportunity for him but he's going ot need to stop jacking up shots every 8 seconds.

I believe 7 seconds was the over/under that was discussed at the Horse.

He's got potential. Maybe now that he knows he will get minutes, he can settle down and play within the offense a little more.

I definitely like his potential, and I can see him help us at rebounding even more, but besides that, our offense doesn't improve with the recent news.

We are really going to have to increase the defensive intensity and effort to beat teams now, I don't expect us to win another road game (maybe at USC or at Utah possibly), but we need to take care of business at home and finish 9-9 in coference to make the tourney.

It is still a possiblity with our non conference record and RPI.

I like his potential too, unfortunately his strongest attribute is something we're already pretty good at (rebounding). He's got to be efficient on offense and play solid D to give CU any meaningful minutes.

Honestly if he can not shoot the ball, grab 3 boards and give us 5 smart fouls he'll be a help at this point.

I think he rode bulls when he was younger.

Gotta make it to 8 seconds for that.

In all honesty though, if he takes good shots and plays great D, he'll be a solid asset to the team going forward. We all always expect boyle's guys to D up, but these are just freshmen - he hasnt had this young of a team in a while, and even like last year when we had 4 frosh, scott was the only one getting significant minutes (though XJ did start to get more as the season wore on). Now all these guys are going to get a lot more minutes than I think anyone had planned on.

King did not see any minutes against UCLA. Does anyone know why? I was surprised. He seems to be at least strong on the boards. He might have helped with Adams who really went off on us in the second half.

Adams is far too quick for king it would have been 5 bad fouls and over.

After the game, Tad said he liked DT more in the matchup than King but that King would get his time coming up.

Hope so. Really want him to take Stalzer's minutes because King gives this team way more than him: defense, rebounding, and athleticism

Why is everyone hating on Stalzer? He wasn't a game changer but played within the offense and stayed in front of his man on defense. What more do you want for a guy the 8th guy in your rotation

I'm with you. He didn't light it up, but he was hardly the worst player on the court.

What? He was easily the worst. I'm not even sure who I'd put in his category as far as second worst last night. Just a complete liability in every facet of the game.

Yeah, he was especially bad in the 2nd half. He didn't play within the offense at all, just jacked up two or three bricks with way too much time on the clock. He doesn't seem to have much of a handle either.

I went to a Mesa St. game and I can't see Stalzer being 8th in either teams rotation. His shot is horrific and why he played over King is beyond me.
The King I remember earlier in the year was a good rebounder and I remember him knocking down 3 3's one game. The question why is King not playing?

thanks we actually had to leave at halftime because my wife got a migraine. So to me first half Stalzer wasn't too bad and I just had to look at the box score to see what he did in the 2nd. Fair assessment.

The PG is supposed to make the players around him better. Eli made them worse. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I'm beginning to have a violent gastro-intestinal reaction whenever Eli checks into the game.

I don't know what you guys are talking about. Expect Eli's minute's to go up. He pushes the ball and he was the third leading rebounder (first among gaurds) against USC. He should get Talton's minutes. Talton is an air-ball machine but at least he is good at turnover's.

Screw off Barry, noone likes you.

For some reason, this seems like an opportune time to remind everyone that political posts should be confined to the politics forum. :smile2:

Eli had one of his better games. 6 rebounds, 4 points (1/3 FGs & 1/2 FTs)... but 1 assist against 2 turnovers with no steals. 20 minutes.

XT also went 1/3 to score 2 points and had 2 rebounds... but he had 3 assists against 0 turnovers with 1 steal. 18 minutes.

What this stat line tells me is that Eli is not a PG and XT is. They're different types of players. Eli needs to be a "2" and he just might be big/strong enough to play the "3" against certain matchups despite only being 6'3". If he can be a glue-guy who can come in as an extra ball handler, keep good ball movement going on offense, be a + rebounder, play good team defense, and knock down shots when they are there for him, and develop into a money FT shooter... then he has a future. It's a lot to ask of him. What it really comes down to is whether Eli can become a pure shooter for CU. It's what this roster needs. Unfortunately, I haven't seen that from him yet.

Regarding XT -- he is a PG. And he's more athletic than Eli. He should be an effective upperclassman off the bench the next 2 years.
