ATHENS ----- University of Georgia tailback Todd Gurley has been indefinitely suspended from competition by the UGA Athletic Association during an ongoing investigation into an alleged violation of NCAA rules.

"I'm obviously very disappointed," said UGA head football coach Mark Richt. "The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri."

Sounds like he may have been outed as a result of a CFB AMA from a memorabilia vendor who dropped some strong hints that a big player had gotten really greedy and it wouldn't be hard to figure out who.

If anything, this will help Gurley's draft status. Less mileage on the RB.

 True!

No one in the NFL will care about a violation like that either.

Exactly. If anything he looks better since he's already someone whose merch is in demand. Too bad there goes the best shot a non-QB had this year of winning the Heisman.

A non-QB not named Nelson Spruce

Are they Cam Newton / Johnny Football lawyers on a plane headed to Athens or Tallahassee? Probably Tallahassee.

Been suspended 4 games by the NCAA for taking 3 grand for autographs. He´s also been ordered to do 40 hours of community service. Community service? Did he commit a crime or get into a fight at a bar?

By community service, do they mean signing memorabilia at the local Boys and Girls Club?

Might be a smart move to do this (get caught) on purpose. You've already proven yourself. Nowhere to go but down on top of risking injury. Now the dude can just workout and prep for the combine. No risk, lots of reward. Not a bad deal.

Disappointing to see a guy get punished for admitting wrong doing and another have no consequences for not owning up to it. That said, there is a possibility Winston signed hundreds of items for free; however, that doesn't pass the smell test IMO.

Don't think getting paid to sign autographs is a big deal - the players own their image and it isn't a place that needs to be governed.

You must replace "wrong doing" with "not abiding NCAA rules". Those two things are not even remotely the same.

Unfortunate for him to get hurt after coming back. On on hand, he could have sat out the rest of the year and been a top 15 pick. On the other hand, hard to not come back when your team has a shot at the SEC title.
