Gillam on a Freshman All-American Team

Obviously incredibly deserving. Had to be amongst the top 3 impact true freshmen in the Pac.

Gillam didn’t start playing high school football until his junior year, and he was largely overlooked coming out of tiny Palo Cedro, Calif., but he’s on the Pac-12 radar now. After enrolling early and nabbing the job in the middle, he went on to collect a team-high 119 tackles, seven stops for loss and three sacks. Gillam has the right size, range and toughness to evolve very quickly into an anchor in Boulder.

Very cool! I can't remember the last time the Buffs had three freshmen honored in the same magazine.

Allsome - Addison, Sefo and Adkins !! Proud of you and proud to watch you playing ball... Stud's and future star's

Unpossible! These guys only had two-three stars from the recruiting gurus!!! And we all know that stars on a HS resume are the end-all, be-all of recruiting----coachs' evaluations mean nothing, nothing I tell ya, just ask BlackandGold and Slider (when the latter emerges from his lastest fit of depression/apoplexy, that is.)

Actually, Gillam is the only one on the first team defense that wasn't a four or five star.

What this tells me is that CU is in good hands. MM and staff has had to dig deep to find the good players that are overlooked in pretty much everywhere he has coached. As we get better they will start getting four star players, but if he can consistently get really good players to provide quality depth then we will become very competitive with time.

According to him, the "didn't play football until his junior year" thing is a myth. Anyway, that's not important. Whats important is that he is being recognized and will only get better. Definitely a guy we can build our defense around.
The article says he didn't play HIGH SCHOOL football until his Jr year, which is accurate.

It a shame he didn't win Pac12 D freshman of the year. He got over shadowed by the Miles Jack hype train, but he was probably more deserving (and the fact that Jack won Offensive as well is a joke, he was maybe the 5th best freshman on that side of the ball).

I assume he did break the freshman LB tackle record that Dizon had? I never heard the number to beat or what he ended up with. (and too ****in lazy to go look when I know you mensa candidates here know the numbers off the tops of your heads. I mean...you 'rainmen'.

Happy for Gillam.

Wish the thing about getting a late start on football would go away. When he was asked about it, it seemed to annoy him since he's been playing since he was a little kid.

Can't wait to see a bigger and stronger Gillam next year. Could be the next great Linebacker from CU to go to the NFL.

I think it's pretty cool that Gilliam's first time playing football was with CU and he made the all freshman team.
