PALM DESERT, Calif. — The University of Colorado men's golf team couldn't make up any ground here in Friday's final round and remained in a tie for ninth place as the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate came to a close. No. 55 Charlotte, trailing by two shots entering the day, used a blistering 18-under 270 score to finish at 25-under par with an 839 total. The 49ers saw all five of their designated scorers turn in rounds in the 60s in posting the best single round score of the event by some 10 strokes (the 49ers had 29 birdies Friday; no other team had more than 19 in any round). No. 42 Nevada, the second round leader, finished second, some 18 strokes back at 857. Host Wyoming and New Mexico State tied for third (865) with Long Beach State rounding out the top five (866).
