this game friday is big. really big. and, i don't know if our Buffs have the horses to win it.
a loss would send a lot of the fan base into full meltdown.
perspective will be important if that happens. it is very unlikely that hawkins will be fired this year, even if CU loses badly to the fuskers. so, keep that in mind. as i posted in another thread, i believe hawkins will get one more year here. i have my head around that. i am good with it. there is no point in freaking out now.
the number of injuries that this team sustained are going to give the staff a pass for the year. you can disagree with this all you want, but i think they are going to get a "get out of jail free" card because of the rough year our Buffs have had on the injury front.
basically, next year, the team is going to need to dramatically outperform expectations for this staff to survive.
in the interim, we might as well all hold on for a wild ride.
and, hell, the fuskers aren't unbeatable. the game looks stacked against CU but you never know.
a win and a bowl invitation and this season looks and feels a whole lot better, especially considering all the challenges.
whatever happens, i hope we can keep it relatively civil here, particularly about the players. they are doing their best. some of them were never expected to be starters and others are playing long before they were projected to be ready to play. but, they are all Buffs and doing what they can.
like everyone, i am not happy about the way things have gone in the hawkins era, but i think the guy probably deserves one more year. and i hope for the best, as always.
GO BUFFS!
