I did not know where to put this but I wanted to post it. A friend of mind, Rob McReynolds, passed away on Monday. Rob was an Iowa Hawkeye through and through and a great wrestler. But he also was a Buff football fan having season tickets for 30 years. One of Rob's last things was to go to the CU -Nebraska Football game. He knew that he only had days to live and that it was going to be hard to go because he was so fragile but as a 30 years season ticket holder he knew the significance of the game. In a wheelchair and on oxygen friends took Rob to the game. He died 9 days later.

Rob was involved in sports through his life and gave back to sports by coaching young men in wrestling in his spare time. Iowa Hawkeye wrestling has named an award for Rob. Maybe some of you knew Rob through business or wrestling. Rob was only 60, too young to die. I cannot begin to cover all that Rob accomplished in his life and at the same time led his life with integrity and honor.

Below are a couple of links with more information about Rob.

Rob's Obituary

Too young but some lives are measured by more significant things than years.

Condolences to all who knew and cared for him.

I went to school with Rob's daughters. He will be missed, but if you knew him, you know he lived his 60 years to the absolute fullest.

Very sad. What a nice obituary! Reading that really painted a wonderful picture of who he was. Thanks for sharing. It inspires me to be better.

Always tough to lose someone you care about. Peace to you and all his friends and family.

very sad. RIP.

(this gentleman was likely one of the white-haired old-foggies at games, that some here mock. life is a continuum, we all fade, we all deserve respect. don't mean to distract from the tribute to Rob.)

He was 60 if I'm not mistaken.

First off, my condolences - sorry to hear for your loss. While I wasn't incredibly close to her, I've also recently had a friend pass from cancer, and a handful of years ago, a close friend lost his battle. She was only in early 40s and he was mid 30s. If it's any solace to you - I take muchcomfort knowing how blessed I was to have them as friends. I hope you can too.

F U C K cancer

And it brings me to this....this **** Cancer thing is something that I've found amusing at times. I'm not intending to point you out, BuffUp, far from it. But generally, people say **** Cancer, but then...do we really do anything about it? Some of us may, but I would presume that most just share in the anti-cancer sentiment. I admittedly do not give to cancer research as often as I'd like to claim.

SOOO...I've been wondering for a while how best to effectively give to charities for a few years. Last year, I even decided to not give to CU (first time in 14 years) for some other cause. In light of **** Cancer though, I will match any donations given by AllBuff members to cancer research-related charities up to 2.5k total. I know it's not a ton, but this year, 2.5k is all I can give for this cause. PM me, and send me some proof you donated (we may have to exchange personal emails if PMs don't work), and I'll do the same to you as proof that I matched.

And to everyone - esp those in 30s like me, PLEASE, please just ****ing get annual checkups with bloodwork every now and then...we're getting old and **** just goes wrong at times. I'd much rather get detected earlier than late due to the residual gutting-it-out mentality we have from our youth.
