One of the very few positives I am taking from this season. Really good coverage skills and he might be the surest tackler on the team. We need more athletes like him the secondary, many more.

Give full credit to the staff for finding him late in the 2011 recruiting process. Not sure that every true freshman playing right now has a high ceiling, but I think he has a chance to be really good down the line.
 
I've been very happy with Henderson. One thing that has really impressed me is that he has a short memory and learns quickly. He'll get beat, but he never stops battling. Tells me he'll continue improving.

Right on. An important quality for the CB position, and something you don't often find in a talented true freshman who plays.
 
I agree and thought the same. He sniffed out the wide out screen and seemed to cover well. I question the choices the safeties are making. If Perkins has a bad wheel, he shouldn't be in there. I'm tired of Polk's penalties. A junior no less. I really don't think the backend is coached well. Wasn't that supposed to be Brown's specialty? As the DC, he had no answer yesterday. It wouldn't hurt my feelings to see him gone next year. The D sucks.
 
Greg is my light at the end of the tunnel. I always keep an eye on his play and I am encouraged by what I see. The big thing with Greg is that he represents the future of the Buffs for me. I think about how the coaches found him in a short recruiting stretch and since he is impressive so far I have hope that our recruiting future is as bright as well. Him along with some other frosh are getting big ups from me ie McCoulough and others.

I gotta believe that our talent is going to be light years better in a short ammount of time.
 
Agree, he's stepped up well and at least one corner spot looks good for the futrue. He also is very good against the run.Like to see more of canty too.
 
I was thinking about some of the frosh after the game (since there wasn't anything else to try and feel somewhat happy about).

As far as freshmen corners go in depleted secondaries, Hendo gets an A.

As this season wears on and we see other true freshmen playing, will anyone else show to be light at the end of the tunnel too? If I'm Embree & Co, I'd be talking with these guys, not to give them the D2 "rah-rah, do your best" speech, but to explain that some of them have got to become cornerstones in turning the program around.

Henderson is obviously one. But I'm also thinking Asiata, Parker, McCullough off the top of my head. We also saw Daigh and Greer at the end of the game, Greer looked like a big specimen out there.

I've also wondered how much of a drop off (if any) we'll see after this group of seniors goes and their replacements become 1st stringers. We'll lose Hansen, Speedy, Miller, Hartigan, Perkins to name a few, but again, will there be a noticable drop off??
 
Henderson is the only thing in the secondary to be excited about for the future. Hopefully Bell and Harrington can come back strong next year.

Espy being our starting corner is really amazing.

Kind of what I was getting at in my post. We have had several true freshmen play, but only Henderson has really looked the part of a multi-year starter so far. We need other young guys to get better as the season goes on.
 
Interesting that Hendo was "third best" out of Bell, Harrington, and Hendo. Hopefully that's a good sign for the future of our secondary.
 
he's definitely got the upside, among the true frosh we've seen, recruiting ratings aside.
 
He's battled a lot instead of just getting a glazed look when he's about to get beat and letting it happen. Like knocking the ball away from the OSU receiver in the end zone when I've come to expect our guys to freeze and think "Damn!" and accept defeat without contesting anything. He was fearless when the huge Stanford tight end was barreling toward the end zone looking to run him over. Got low and wrapped up. I understand our aim is to recruit a better guy at this position ever year but for the maturity Henderson already brings I would be happy to see him as a 4-year starter at corner or at the very least as our starting nickel by the time he is a senior. He looks ready to be defensive captain material by his junior year.

This is a good point. While we think Henderson is looking good, and two stars and a coaches son, what's important is the upcoming spring game. He has yet to play in one of those, so until we see him perform there, we won't know how good he really could be.
 
Greg Henderson is probably the only true frosh I've been terribly impressed with. Maybe Asiata and Lewis but it's too early to tell imo. Lots of these frosh were forced into PT. Tuumalo and Harlos get pummeled out there
 
Infact Olatoye will start next season he is a 3 star, highest rated healthy DB out of HS on the team. I guarantee it.

I only caught the end of the game on TV, but Greer looked pretty good out there. I realize that at that point Stanford was just going through the motions, but how did Greer look the rest of the game?
 
I agree with everybody, Hendo is a player. Ive actually been waiting on him to take a step back at some point like true freshman tend to do and it hasnt happened. He is a solid all around player who is only gonna get better. Hope he keeps it up.
