SIAP, but I didn't see this all in one place.
Celestine, Simmons, Poole and Ussery are gone.

Hadn't seen Dakota Poole's exit posted before. Never found out what that was all about.

From Ringo's article Feb. 1

Embree initially estimated he would sign between 12 and 15 recruits when asked in mid-December, but the number of available scholarships grew after coaches learned at the semester break that several players would not return to the program next season for various reasons. Those players include wide receivers Kendrick Celestine and Andre Simmons, defensive lineman Dakota Poole and safety Terdema Ussery.

Is Ussery a player? His pop is big **** with the Mavs......

He was, but it didn't work out. He left CU for a semester to deal with stuff, came back, but isn't going to stay with football. Still a little unclear if he will stay in Boulder for his degree. From all reports, extremely nice kid. Well liked by teammates, etc.

Too bad...thanks....I hope he lands on his feet.

Bummer about Ussery, I had high hopes for him when we got him. Unfortunate about Simmons too, I hope he gets his degree.

It may sound harsh, but change can be good. I hope all four of these Buffs go on and do great things, but I also like the idea Embree gets to put more players on the roster of his choice...

I think it sucks to lose these players, these were investments that we had to sell short. However, the silver lining is no attrition on the offensive lines. I remember when Hawk got here, we didn't have enough bodies to do spring ball.

Too bad about Simmons, he seemed to have all the measurable's and would have been a good 3rd or 4th option this year.

CU At the Game has the same info:

Making way for the Class of 2011

In order for the new coaching staff to make way for the larger than expected recruiting class, several current scholarships will not be renewed. For various reasons, it is being reported that wide receiver Kendrick Celestine, wide receiver Terdema Ussery, wide receiver Andre Simmons, and defensive lineman Dakota Poole will not be returning in 2011.

None of the four were significant contributors in 2010, and both Celestine*and Simmons would have been seniors this* fall. Poole is medically retiring from football, but will remain on scholarship if he decides to stay at Colorado and finish his studies.*Ussery, meanwhile, is simply giving up the game. He is not leaving school; nor is he ineligible.

Six walk-ons are also leaving the team, including kicker Marcus Kirkwood.

If Poole and Ussery are both leaving the team ineligible are they not counted against us for APR purposes? Shame about Simmons because it looked like he had the talent to contribute. Also I was pulling for Celestine because of both his talents when he was recruited and moreso for sticking through it when he ran into difficulties in his life.

I think you mis-read that. Poole is leaving for medical reasons (doesn't say ineligible) and may stay at CU to finish his degree. It will be scholarship, but not athletic. Ussery is leaving football. He is neither being asked to leave, nor ineligible. Sounds like he may stay at CU to finish his education, just not playing.

So neither will count against CU's APR. They will count, but not negatively, if both are academically fine when they leave the team, and that appears true.

Thanks, that was what I was actually trying to ask since apparently Poole and Ussery are both fine academically.
