I used to think the o-line made all the difference in college football. My thought was a journeyman QB could excel behind a great O-line. While that may be true, I am convinced now that a great QB can excel behind a journeyman O-line. The assumption is that serviceable skill players are in the mix. Thoughts?

Give me playmakers, especially a QB, and the OL will come together. With today's rules designed to help the offense, the balance tips from the OL to the skill guys. You don't need to blow a defense off the ball, just be fundamentally sound, get assignments right, and stay on the defender taking him where he wants to go. If you have playmakers, they'll find the seams.

It all starts up front. You may get by for a while with a suspect OL, but you will eventually get exposed in the end.

Jmho.

Would Pesavento be considered journeyman? If I recall he mostly handed the ball off and occasionally threw the ball to the TE and NFL caliber receivers, while standing behind NFL line.

7-5 career record as a starter.

Well a good ol sure helps..... Look at uw because they have a fairly good quarterback in keith price, but their ol is awful.
