Watching the Stanford offense against Va Tech was a thing of beauty. I don't know what the **** I just watched and I am exhausted from watching it.

I was kind of intrigued by the Malzahns and Holgorsens of the football world when we were selecting a coach, but thank god we brought in a coach with a pro style offense. I can't watch what I just saw every Saturday.
 
Normally those offenses are fun to watch but I agree with you, it was very sloppy and in general a boring game offensivley. I would still take Malzhan though but I'm just as happy with Embree.
 
Some big plays but it did not seem like either team could get comfortable on Offense. Both Ds are good. Auburn is physical and Oregon is just plain fast.
 
If Oregon had any type of power running game they would have won easily. Stanford would have demolished either one of those teams if they played that night in the Urnge Bowl.

Embree most likely will not be able to make this thing look pretty for a while but it will at least be real football and not as prone to disasters like the spread is.
 
The big problem with the spread is that you can't take snaps under center and when you're 5 yards back on 3rd or 4th and In it makes it that much harder.
 
Oregon will tweak the spread to include some power running. They were one 6'2" 205lb back away from winning the MNC (led by a true fullback).

I just lose seeing UO lose. When they needed to Auburn went with a power rushing game and Oregon had no chance. Loved that too.

No way Oregon wins the SEC with that team. They'd be a good team, but wouldn't run the table.
 
Oregon didn't look that tough in the game last night. I think Embree's philosophy will definitely work. A big offensive line, a power running game and some big defensive linemen can beat the ducks. They couldn't block Farely all night. You don't even need a big back if you have some huge guys up front that can block, Dyer looked almost the same size as speedy. I think we will be fine with our new coaching staff.

Agree to a point, but we will need speed to compete as well. Both those teams last night had tons of it.
 
Interesting point brought up last night after the game -- not sure how true, but something to ponder. TV timeouts were longer, and when oregano had the ball, it gave auburnhair more time to catch their breath.

Michael Dyer has about 25-30 pounds on Speedy.

i remember that point being made during the OU-UF BCs game a couple years ago. i think having a month to look at film and prepare is also a factor for "these" kinds of offenses.

pro-set is great, but until we block people it doesn't matter.

watch it now, because i think that the "magic" of saying CU will run the ball isn't a guarantee of 10 win seasons? I'm optimistic but how can we know?

last night wasn't the Weedeater Bowl, it was the two best teams in the country...who both happen to run the spread. how we are deducing promises of success in our own endeavor (in terms of winning football games and not just personal preferences of offensive "styles") from their "failure" seems like quite a trick of logic to me. just sayin, playing a little advocatus diabolis.
 
I have the same problem with Oregon's offense that I had with Leach at TT. When it is 1st and goal from the one and you have to line up in the shotgun, GTFO.
I hate watching that **** show.

i was unaware of the problem with the phrase.

in future, will say: only time will tell.....(nod to 80's super-group Asia).
 
Oregon did not have the talent up front to beat an SEC team. Auburn stuffed the run 2 out 3 times regardless of which side the gimmick went to. That BS seems to work in the Pac 10 but it will not fly in the SEC.

That being said Oregon did a helluva job manufacturing opportunities for themselves and made some good adjustments with the passing game. They might have won, or at least made it to OT, if not for that odd play at the end where the Auburn guy was not down. Oregon has loads of speed.

In the end this game really seemed to came down to both defenses making the other side of the ball look ugly. Cam Newton did not look like a world beater last night.

Nick Fairley, on the other hand, sure did. I was thinking they out to trade the #2 slot for more picks; but after seeing that guy dominate a game, I'm hoping the Broncos are able to get him. I hate dirty players unless they play for us....

Oregon's offense is a different than TT. Oregon runs the ball very effectively in their offense. The fact is that Auburn was a bigger more physical team. Auburn was ranked in the top 10 in rushing defense and coming out of the SEC that is saying something. I thought that Oregon played very well but Auburn stuffed their running game all game which put to much pressure on the passing game.

Auburn was the more talented team, but Oregon showed they belonged in the game.
 
Who was the guy on Oregon that had the 303 area code on his sleeve? I thought I heard one of the announcers say he was from Denver.
