It's always a good thing to remember the things you appreciate from the past year. I'll toss out a few that come to mind for me:

- Rick George is a great captain of this ship.
- The new facilities are just great.
- Jim Leavitt. or perhaps that should be JMFL
- Josh Scott. Senior leader. The heart or the team this year. Looking great so far this year.

Looking forward to 2016 tho...

The only way 2015 could've been better.....well, I guess that would take too much effort. But Happy New Year and my prayer for all of you that 2016 is prosperous, fulfilling, and full of joy!!

Just finished a bowl of black eyed peas, cornbread, greens, and ham. Its a tradition from my wife's side of the family.
My wife's tale involved something about Civil War origins for this New Year's Day tradition. She said Union soldiers constricted southern food supplies except for these peas, which were considered more suitable as animal feed than fit for human consumption. It was those black eyed peas that sustained Southerners during the winter months. Continuing to eat them is supposed to bring luck or something. I'm not one for Southern superstition, but I do want to honor my wife's holiday spirit, and I do admit to feeling lucky that there is a bottle of Chalula nearby.

I always make black eyed peas too but I'm making meatloaf instead of ham. Just hammed out I guess. Put some pepper sauce on black eyed peas= good.

Making homemade chimichangas for dinner tonight! Great stuffed tortilla that is slightly spicy and baked in a 500 degree oven the covered with cheese and green chili and returned to the oven until the cheese melts. Freaking Awesome

The only place I know that has blackeyed peas is Hog Heaven on 285. They also have fried okra. Good stuff.

I'm going with pork and beef tamales and a sixer.

Don't say okra, I love it and have a hard time finding it here. I have to settle for fried pickles instead. If I have okra, I'm making it.

Love Okra as well. Get it here in the late summer. Slice it and put it in corn meal and then drop it into a pan and fry it up. Hmmmmmm
