Has Jon Embree's post firing crusade hurt BUffs4Life?

As a long time Colorado resident who watched Jon Embree come up through high school and and play for those McCartney teams of the 80's. I had always been impressed with the work Jon had done for CU, his charitable work with Buffs4Life especially in supporting former Buffaloes who had fallen on hard times. The Salam Heisman ring situation being just one great example. I was really disappointed to see Jon turn inward this season and hunker down as things got worse. The Sr banquet thing was an example of that, his reaction to social media as well and his sideline demeanor did not behoove a man of his stature in the Buffs community. To be honest I really wanted Jon Embree to work out as a coach at CU, I knew he had a tough road ahead of him when hired but I hoped passion and professionalism would out weight his lack of experience; unfortunately for him it did not. So we are here, it is time to move on, but unfortunately Jon doesn't seem to agree with that. The reality of it is even if they some how got Mike fired Buffs4Life has been turned from a great charity into a political force and no one wants to listen anymore.

What really concerns me though is the long term damage this will do to the mission of Buffs4Life and their continued ability to help former Buffs in need. By effectively mobilizing the charity into a political army they've alienated a huge number of Buff fans as they continue to drag our universities name though the mud. I know many my age will Back Mac and Embree no matter what but we cant give forever and I fear they destroying their good will amongst middle aged and younger fans.

Hopefully Jon comes to his sense and stops this before B4L is damaged beyond repair.

In the short term? Absolutely, the damage is done. These guys are the face of this witch hunt and are directly associated with the B4L program. There have been a few weak attempts recently to disassociate the Embree hiring from B4L but it's flimsy at best.

In the long term? Hard to tell. These guys continue this pointless crusade and they could do irreparable damage.

More interesting will be to see if B4L separate themselves from the school. Will the AD and administration be invited to the annual golf tourney? If so, how will they be treated?

dunno. but I can see them not being invited to CU-sponsored events....

The best thing that could happen for B4L is if the new coach embrasses the organization as a key part of the athletic department's mission. There needs to be some reconciliation on both sides.

I'm sure the school will continue to invite everyone - but i'm not sure some of these guys will go.

I will be interested to see if any of the younger guys fill the void - guys from Hawk's generation

Is it a B4L function or the school's? Who runs it and does the invitations?

JE and Mac and the rest of the witch hunt crew are showing their true colors. They are out for something other than CU...maybe ego, maybe friend ship, amybe a political agenda, but the best interests of the institution that gave them their notoriety is secondary.

Sorry - I misread your post and had the parties backwards.

How can they be Buffs4Life is they're disassociated from the school??

+1

The way embo and Mac handled themselves this last few days is disgraceful and I see no way B4L can be a major player or anything at this university anymore. After Embo playing race card and Mac opening his mouth all over town there is no way Bohn or the school can embrace them anymore. B4L took a HUGE hit when these two decided to act like 3rd graders mad at their parents. Too bad too cause I really liked that Mac was back around the program and helping out the last couple years.

Never thought I'd say this but Hawk was the shinning example of how a coach bows out with dignity..... maybe Embo should have checked out youtube before going to the presser Monday
