Depending on which insider you care to believe, CU has been after

1) Tedford;
2) Strong;
3) Anderson;
4) Jones;

and has whiffed on all four, or three, or two, despite offering a top 15 salary package, again if you want to believe what is being reported by various tweets, sharts and reports.

So now that, NCST has landed Doeren, Auburn Malzahn, Arky Beilema, BC Adazzio and Idaho Petrino, no the other one, has Mike Bohn officially dropped the ball?

Is there a hire out there that restores confidence in the AD's, ahem, coaching hiring acumen?

Poll follows.

By all accounts he has offered between $2.5 & $2.75 per year plus huge $ for assistants.

Any failures are not already having new facilities in place.

Sorry, don't really believe we were actually after Tedford or Andersen, but just asked their interest levels with little interest. So far, as far as we know, Jones is the only one we have gone after and offered $5.7M for his total salary along with promises about facility updates. While Jones hasn't turned us down officially, it doesn't look good right now but I'm not exactly sure what more he could have done there. I'm not saying he has no blame here, but I think he did all that he could to lure Jones to Boulder.

If we get DeRuyter, I'd be fine with that, and Stitt would probably come with so there's that.

+1

The department of redundancy department called and wants its poll back.

I think it's too early to say Bohn has dropped the ball. Especially considering we really don't know all the details of the search, or who they talked to in what order.

Retarded.

I think Bohn came out pretty quick and said that he wasn't interested in any coaches who had just been fired from their jobs. (i.e Tedford and Chizik)

Ya Bohn said the first day he wasn't going for Tedford because he was terrible academically

Ringo seems to think Mullen was CU's plan A

Pardon me for not believing a word Ringo says. He's not exactly proven himself to be the most reliable source of information.

As for the OP, I don't think we're going to know whether Bohn dropped the ball or not for at least a year or two. It doesn't matter who we don't hire. What matters is who we do hire.

You and your damned rationality! How can weasles like Lefty have anything left to whine about when you post such reasonable thoughts?

At this point, f*#k Jones and the plane he rode in on. Let him pimp it up in Cincy, otherwise known as "Porkopolis", where they serve "chili" made by Greeks, on top of spaghetti!

How's that 35K maximum home crowd in that ****hole stadium, BJ? Maybe next year you can go to the Cornholio Bowl in Omahaha and play NoDak State?

Poll follows.

1) Embree is no longer the coach
2) Facilities improvements are apparently coming
3) CU is prepared to spend enough $ to attract a decent coach

Offseason is already a success in my book.

even though it may not have been someone beneath him (e.g. Trace Armstrong, etc), it's really disappointing that the details of Jones' proposed contract were leaked. I can't believe we're in this position right now...I don't think this search has been handled that well, nor Embree's firing and the aftermath. I want Bohn gone.

I'm 80% there. Even if Jones eventually says yes, I think it will be at 20%... should not have let him leave without signing.

Good for you.

I think Bohn and CU went about this the right way. If Jones doesn't come to CU it's all on him. He played a little shell game with us. His general attitude and personality seem a little quirky to me. I'm not sure how much we are really going to end up wanting this guy anyway

And many of you guys thought I was jumping the gun with this poll....

bohn has done nothing wrong on this search
Care to revise this? Bohn has done everything wrong, starting with the Embree presser. This is what happens when you have the AD trying to do PR work (having never handled PR before), trying to do HR work (for the first time), all the while sitting back like you're the smartest guys in the room, then having it blow up in your face. This is why you approach these decisions as a team. Bohn and Solich have been doing this almost all on their own. Solich is our new AD, by the way.

Now we are after HC's from the bush leagues. Great. Leftovers none of the other 12-14 schools looking for HC's picked up.

On the plus side, the bar is so low that a 3 win season counts as improvement. Then we can fire the next coach after a year and find our REAL coach. :facepalm:

What has happened?

JE fired = awesome

Confirmed that CU is offering big boy $ for coaches. = awesome

Seems that CU has committed, in some manner, to facilities upgrades= awesome

Certain things are under your control. Certain things are are not under your control. You can't make someone take the job. You can't control your ex-coach of 20 years ago from going full retard. You can't control the guy you just fired from going full retard.

Reality is messy. Look around, even Michigan, the cream of the cream in terms of institutional prestige, went through all kinds of crap with Lloyd Carr/R Rod. Go down any list of schools and you can find a mess:

TCU - half the players kicked off the team for dope...starting QB in rehab
Texas Tech - coach is locking players in a utility closet and is suing the school...continuous basketball fiasco
Texas - Muschamp head coach in waiting fiasco....power play fight between AD and boosters between Brown & Barney
WVU - R Rod fiasco
OSU - vest fiasco
PSU - don't need to go there
USC - AD fired, scandals, head coach bolts before sanctions, LK hire?
UCLA - new coach ever two years
Notre Dame - resume fiasco
Wisconson - AD letting everything slip away
A&M - two football HC crap decisions before sumlin...massive underperformance given size, location and resources
Baylor - basketball murders
Tenn - countless coaches turning them down...big underperformance given location, size and resources
FSU - embarrassing situation with BB
Auburn - rampant cheating

etc.
