As my first action as president of the Austin Buff Alumni Association - I'm trying to get a group of us together locally to go the CU-UT basketball game on Saturday Jan. 9th at 12:30 CST at the Frank Erwin Center here in Austin.

Anyone interested in joining us Austin Buffs in the revelry? Give me a holler here or via PM. :smile2:

I appreciate this effort and was planning on making the pilgrimage - but it looks like I will be taking that travel budget and applying it to heading to SoCal that week. At least will plan on watching the televised game amongst Texass friends, bedecked in B&G.

Which reminds me Navy - Sell this as a game where fans will be able to get cheap tix and then move down to better seats. Gonna be a lot of empties as most fans will still be on their way back from Pasadena, plus school hasn't started yet so that place is going to be empty. Little home court advantage and a nice opportunity to see the Buffs steal a win.

Thanks for the advice aik! I'm gonna need to do the hard sell for this one. We lost a lot of momentum after the awesome tailgate we hosted for the CU-UT football game back in October. :sad2:

Erwin Center holds like 15,000 i think, it's never completely full on TV....not even during conference play unless they are playing OU or KU maybe.

Nope, and Barnes has been pissed for years that the place averages an "announced" attendance of probably 8-9,000 for any game before January. Kind of called out the student body a few seasons back and challenged them to show up for the nonconference games, but when you play a bunch of regional system schools in a large multi-purpose arena at a football school and your biggest nonconference draws are at neutral sites, you can't expect to have an impressive fan showing.

Last year the place was as loud as I'd ever heard it from the opening tip until a few minutes later when Blake Griffin was injured. If the Horns are in the top 10, the atmosphere is as close to electric as it can get in that place. If they drop a game or two, back to normal. Still, with most of the populace concerned with the BCS game and on winter break, I predict Buff fans paying for the cheap seats could potentially move to within 10 rows of courtside at this one.
