You guys are pretty great. It is nice to see so many 35 year old faces here. Some of those faces are bitter and hardened from being on this site for the past 15 years. Other faces are bright and happy from deciding to participate now that the Buffs seem to be coming back from the college football wilderness. And some of you are just here for the basketball. That's cool - Allbuffs accepts all kinds.... except Huskers. **** Nebraska.
I wanted to take a minute to remind ya'll that Allbuffs isn't a profit-generating site. We don't have investors, and outside of the Junta taking it's cut of hookers and blow, no one gets paid to run this burrito stand. That means that @SBG and @chipwich get nothing but their own pool of anger and bitterness when they're up at 3am fixing some security hole that you guys never knew existed. That means that the recruitniks and sports moderators get nothing when they're out begging for minor scraps of information from guys who know a guy who know a guy.
What it also means is that we need your money. Why do we need your money? So that we can pay for servers, for hosting, so that we can pay for some of the other fun stuff that we offer you. And let me assure you, we will get your money one way or another. We are more then willing to squeeze blood from a stone.
So, there are two options. Option #1 - Don't buy a yearly subscription here for $20. Instead, continue to get bombarded with banner ads that are strategically placed to make it neigh impossible to login. Yeah, we will squeeze that $.01 out of you when you are enraged by mistakingly clicking on a banner for Cialis. You also don't get other fun things, like access to a members only forum where you can get the latest scoop. You also don't get access to other fun perks for being a club member, like some increased changes for ticket giveaways. Finally, you won't get to show just how FUN you are in your middle age by adding a picture of some incoherent and obscure reference from your childhood as your avatar.
Instead, you will wander around the site aimlessly, just another buffs######## or [InsertCityName]Buff with a gray question mark as your picture. You will never crack the Top 20 in likes with an approach to Allbuffs like that (don't worry, no one is making that list anyway, considering all the karma whores that this site hosts).
I guess what I'm saying, is go with Option #2 consider ponying up $20 for all the neat things I noted above. The money really does go to supporting the site, foolishly no one is actually taking home cash from this venture. And we need it, so that we can keep the site running and updated, lest we end up like Ramnation.
