Homeless Ball Player

I think it is important to maintain the integrity of the student-athlete...if that means sleeping on the street, it is a price we have to pay. (Unless the student-athlete has signed with Oklahoma, Texas, U$C, tOSU or FSU, then we should put them up in the Hilton, and arrange for a loaner car).

If he was signed with one of those schools at least one relative would have a brand new trailer where he could live.

I'm glad that the NCAA granted the waiver. You never know with that group.

I wish that Boise State had, however, simply picked up the motel from Day 1 and submitted paperwork to the NCAA to coincide with it. If they pulled a "We're doing what is right. We dare you to penalize us for it" I don't think the NCAA would have the balls to go against public opinion and drop sanctions against a school in a case like this.

If BSU had gone that route, I don't think the NCAA would have penalized them for it. However, BSU is already on probation. I think the NCAA might have taken that kind of challenge personally and put BSU on the 'we're out to get you list' and nailed them for some future small infraction.

This is probably correct.

That's probably the fastest the NCAA has moved on a decision about eligibility.
They knew this could be a ****storm of epic proportions if they didn't move on it right away. They are already under threat and the last thing they need is another big black eye for failing to be sensitive to desperate situations. Glad they moved on it though.
