How do you prepare for UNH and not overlook them?

The Buffs are coming off a really exciting road win against a major rival and they're riding high...

How do you avoid an upset?

None of the fans are taking New Hampshire seriously, they've looked ugly in both games, but upsets happen all the time in college football, and they've been a very strong FCS team in the past.

Like I said, none of the fans are taking this game as a challenge, we expect to win 50-0 but how do the coaches get the players prepared to play this week and not look past them to UCLA where they might slip on a banana peel and get beat by a tomato can they should be stomping on. Mac has done a good job in recent years of preparing teams to play non conference schools after not doing so great in earlier years... what do you do to keep everyone focused on beating an opponent they're expected to destroy?

Good question. Maybe you say that for as great as you may feel going 2-0 against rivals with none of those games played on your home turf...a loss and you
will take three steps backwards. Create excitement for this game being your home opener. Talk about how you only have so few games that one will get to play
in front of family and friends and to make it special and defend your turf.

You let the starters know that they can put in a great effort and have a short day.

You let the rest of the team know that they get to play and make a statement if the starters do their job.

We're the fans. It's okay for us to look beyond UNH. Pretty sure the players and coaches will not overlook this Saturday's game.

I'm not really worried about the motivation-if these kids can get up for a rivalry they didn't quite get this time last week, they'll get up for this game. MM's track record in these FBS vs. FCS games is pretty good for the most part-UNC last year was ugly, but I never really was worried about losing that one, and Central Arkansas his first game at Folsom was a little closer than one would like, but other than that we've jumped on the FCS teams we've played since he's been here.

I agree with WarBuff. Let the starters know execute and dominate early and you get a short day at the office. Let the 2nd and 3rd teamers know this will be your chance to play your way into more playing time. All these guys want on the field, let the bloodbath begin!

The coaches and the experienced players won't let them overlook this one. Plus, it's the home opener, and it's easy to get psyched up for that. As fans, our only job is to be there and make it loud.

I was at that UNC game last season, and although the game was never seriously in doubt those UNC players were probably all stoked going into the locker room at halftime. Lackluster effort by the Buffs. They know they can't do that again.

Yeah. This is a different, more motivated group than that was.

This seems like it could be a dangerous game. Coming off a early big game win, a few players establishing a huge presence early in the season. The team and fans are on a high right now, even with frostgate in the back of the minds of some. New Hampshire can sneak out of Boulder with a win. Stick to business as usual! I’m sure this is what HCMM has said since Saturday evening.

I think this will be a good game to tighten up some lose ends before a bye week and conference play!

You show them the NU film, make changes on the left side of the OL and give snaps to DL who graded the best. Install 3 new plays on O. Practice a fake punt or fake FG over and over. And challenge them to a PR or KOR for a TD with a big reward.

A lot of noise so far. The team simply prepares for each game as if it is the only game. I don’t see a problem.

“DSL service is brand new
You might even see a moose
Here in New Hampshire”:ROFLMAO:

I'll tell you how. @Buffnik buckles down, puts in a good week of prep, and then wrecks that UNH toilet like there's no tomorrow! Or, maybe he writes the intro and one of the scrubs around here finishes up. Either way. Beat those New Hampshire....um...Primaries?

damnit spiff! i was going to do a rant on overlooking the nh primaries and such.

I would prepare like they are alabama. Get the starters some good reps and build their stats a little (what all the big boys do). Then let our back-ups get some play time running the O and D like they are starters (same play calls). If we are still building a lead, let the guys that never get a chance to play get in, they deserve to play some.
