Example of a ASU doosh fan moment, I was coming in on the west side of Folsom with a couple of friends with two sun devil fans in front of us and after looking at the new sky boxes one says to the other "they only have one championship? Psssh". Of course I ask "how many do you snatch maggots have?", which gets the normal mumble mumble err response.

i have a cousin who is a lawyer in Phoenix. she hates it. the couple times i was in Tucson, it was all right.

i think the little devil guy on the logo is lame. like U of A's white helmets better than the blue ones. Oregon is still my odds on #1 hate though. i know an annoying Cal fan...that may come into play.

Rick is a doucherocket but can't wait to watch CU hoops in Pauley.

All fanbases have their "gems"...and will not miss the back and forth with the Nubs about classless behavior. I have heard som many concocted stories each way it makes me sick...although we do have some very good video proof of things being thrown at our players in the dump at Stincoln.

I am sure the fanbases will change a bit once we all start getting more familiar in-conference which should be fun.

I do have to add some of my perspective of working in Tucson to get this thing started. The place absolutely sucked to live in...and I have to assume this is simply the case UNLESS you are a college student. They looked like they had a lot of fun. However, we did find the most fun when being there:
- golfing - lots of great courses
- the Desert Museum was very cool
- the wildlife that crawled in and out of my corporate apartment was "interesting" - wolf spiders bigger than my hand crawling on the walls, roaches EVERYWHERE, javelinas running around, rattle snakes greeting me at my front door, and fricking scorpions being found in and around my appartment frequently.

On the positive, we did find a couple of decent brew-pubs which I am sure there are more. Gentle Ben's was there in the early 90's but was shut down...and they have many great roads that cross washes that are AWESOME for jumping cars. Yep - get the insurance and go jump the crap out of the rental cars...Tangerine road in northern Tucson is phenominal for this activity!

I have been to both cities.... in fact, U of A and ASU were on my list of college visits. They both are great for different reasons. I chose to go to U of A over CU and ASU (among others) at first and changed my mind about 3 months prior to school starting. Sounds like Kanbyl has the same arguments for classless fans that we do about nebraska.... so it is good to see that my hypothesis of all teams have great and crappy fans....

don't let the U of A dude sway you.... both will be fun trips... but we will hate them both in a few years.

ASU students are generally much dumber than UA students, but I think Tempe is an alright place, better than Phoenix, Scottsdale, etc. UA students are dumber than CU students. But, UA girls slaughter CU girls. ASU girls may be attractive, but SO dumb that it doesn't matter. Tucson is a FAR better place to live. Trust me, I've got experience living in both and dying to get back to Tucson. Phoenix is good for professional sports teams and thats about it. And Gentle Ben's is still there, not sure about the early '90s reference.

Tucson probably does suck for anyone who isn't a college student or the elderly. I have managed to live here 31 years and I do not think I could call any other place home. Sure the night life is lame compared to most cities but for the more active, outdoorsy type, Tucson is a dream. We have everything you want no more than a 4 hour drive away. I did live in Tempe for close to a year and hated every moment of it. Please don't think it had anything to do with my hatred for ASU. The people that lived there, I guess you can just say unpleasent. Even my family that lives up there now says it just doesn't feel like a home there. Just a city you sleep and work in.

The great thing about Tucson, especially now is that it seems little local hole in the wall places are opening up left and right. From the Tucson created Sonoran Dog, to places like Lindy's on fourth, Maynards at the old Tucson train Depot. There is even an unnamed brewery that was an old warehouse off of Park that opened up recently.

Now if we can get the local city council to stop sucking the potential out of this city some great things could happen here.

There are lots of things to do as a day trip too... Traveling to the Tombstone & the OK Corral, the drive to the dam (forget what person it was named after) was one of the best drives I have ever done.... and I think it is called the Casino of the Sun was also a fun place but i only remember poker tables and slots....
Also, hanging out at the university mall around noon has some fantastic sights :smile2::thumbsup:
