I took a bit of a break from the NFL and other stuff as the NFL has a way of dominating the headlines 365/24/7 and it gets annoying at one point where they cannot shut up for even 5 seconds and is looking for a way to stay relevant even during the dog days of the NFL calendar, but with CU compiling what seems to be a very legit recruiting class (and a good QB commit to boot!), the Broncos bringing back Miller, the Pac 12 media days, the Buffs being one of the most experienced teams in the P12 and having a shot at being somewhat relevant and training camp only being weeks away, I think I am now genuinely in season mode and ready for the pigskin to fly.

The doubters say it's kool-aid, that we can't have nice things.

But our starting 11 on defense is gonna be my goodness worthy, and they'll be playing for a coordinator who will throw all kinds of fun and exciting blitz packages out there. The offense may take a few weeks to get in-sync, but they have some weapons and a plan.

I have a deal in place with the mods that I will be banned for a week if we don't win by more than 10pts against CSU. I'm gonna double down on that and publicly announce that we will make a bowl game or I will be banned for 2 weeks. This site is my babe, you know how serious I am when I'm willing to risk time away.

The odds are good. I am traveling a lot this fall and will miss many of the games. Virtually a guarantee that this is the turn around season.

We are going to be a better team this year, in some ways a much better team.

We also have a brutal schedule and almost no depth.

I'd love to see us win 6 games and go to a bowl. If we do qualify for a bowl I think we will destroy whoever we play, It will be a bottom end bowl and our opponent won't be nearly as enthusiastic about it as we will. The bottom PAC12 bowl plays against an also-ran from the B12, second from the bottom gets a MWC opponent.

More realistically I think we get 4-5 wins this year. If Bohn-head hadn't scheduled us for a payday against Michigan we would be in much better shape.

I am generally in agreement with this. I think we are an edge rusher or two away form being a top defense.
 
Defense should be pretty good and no more Toby'd special teams should be better viewing too.

I'm still excited for the season though, we should win 6 games and make a bowl, but I don't want to settle for that, we need to build to where we see that season as a failure.

I can't help but think you're all cursing us. I'm optimistic about improvement this year but we need to luck. A good bounce, a missed assignment, blown coverage, we'll need all that and more to make a bowl game. So if you guys could all shut up and head to whatever church you feel best about. I'd appreciate it.

He's going to have to do this for us to get to a bowl, IMO. I like our D going into the season, but very rare do they stay completely healthy, so will have to rely on the QB at some point.
 
If jinxing was a thing, we'd have jinxed us into a bowl game a while ago with all the self-loathing.

Can't we have one kool-aid thread? There's a ton to be excited about, but any excitement comes with the reminder that we aren't where we should be, that HCMM is coaching for his job and all this recruiting excitement might not matter, and to not get our hopes up because "we do this every year." The OL is a question mark until proven otherwise. Even a 100% Sefo isn't perfect. We are desperately hoping for a newcomer to step in at WR and make an impact and for a RB to take over. There's no depth in the secondary, or really at LB. We need Gillam and Tupou to be right. Special teams might still provide lulz. Even the biggest homer realizes all this.

But the rise is real and if you want to fight me about being excited then PM me and we can meet in Temecula.
 
I'm excited for conference play, but the first few games of the year always worry me. I love the coaching staff, but they seem to have trouble preparing kids during the off season. Hopefully with the staff change-ups that is a thing of the past.
