and as a member of the basketball band for 6 seasons now, I can honestly say that that was the most exciting game I've ever been a part of. Between upsetting a top 5 team (and having it be the conference exploding Whorns), overcoming a 22 point deficit, a record 4th sellout in a season, and an amazing student section, I don't think I could have scripted a better afternoon. I know there are a lot of threads talking about the game right now but my Buff Pride is overflowing right now to the point where a new thread was needed to try to contain it. To see how CU basketball has evolved over the past 6 seasons has been painful at times, but days like today make it all worthwhile. I'm honored to be a Buff and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this team.

GO BUFFS!!!

allsome.

and Goldenbuff - thanks to you and the musical comrades for being a big part of the game day atmosphere.
Excitement in the air.

That's great GB. If you're part of the band that travels, then hopefully you'll be on the road 3 weeks from now at one of the 8 NCAA sites.

As a tuba and an old person, I'm pretty much assured a spot in that group and I'm very excited about that possibility. I don't know where we'd end up going (probably to a play-in in Dayton) but I know we would bring it no matter where we end up.

Why are you here and not at the Horse goddammit.

Because I'm lame like that...

not trying to jack your thread GB, but speaking of "GB", gary barnett was sitting about 5 rows in front of us at the game...at one point he turned around and gave a wave to phil distefano, who sits in the row behind us...

i thought that was rather ironic and interesting to see that exchange...

There are lots of people in the band that are also in grad school. There is no "age out". Record is something like 11 straight years in the band. She was a Phd student

I knew a guy who would take the minimum number of classes in the Fall to be considered a full time student, just so he could play in the band. He never went to school in the Spring or Summer.

I just realized that, GB must have a couple medical redshirts.

For the record, I graduated from CU in May of 2009. Now I work for in the MCDB department as a lab manager to get some experience before I go off to grad school. Because I play an instrument that is in demand and I'm still affiliated with the University, the director lets me stick around. I love it because I basically get free season tickets and it's the only way I get to keep playing music. It's gonna be hard to leave when it's time to go to grad school but hopefully I can get a good sendoff from both the football and bball teams next year...

Well, she was an undergrad at CU and then a PhD student at Health Sciences and she even still comes to some of the basketball games. That's the thing with band, you're never really done. There are people who still come for the alumni band at homecoming who graduated in the '50s.

very good point. Its crazy the amount of alumni that show up to Bball games now.

A pure explosion of Joy. I couldn't believe it. Levi is a MAN.

Warrior Pride!

Seriously. Did someone give that Indian chief a golden shower? Is being into that the reason why "GoldenBuff" chose that screen name? nttawwt

It is just a symbolic face paint meant to show that yes, we will be throwing mother****ing pissbombs at you.

Offensive mascot.

I'm going to cut this off now. Arapahoe High School is actually the only High School in the country with a Native American mascot officially sanctioned by a tribe. The school has a relationship with the Arapahoe nation at the Wind River reservation in Wyoming and they come and visit every other year and AHS students also visit the reservation. The tribal elders come for graduation every year as well and it's truly an honor to have that relationship. The mascot was designed by a tribal artist and there's nothing offensive or racist about it.

I liked my explanation better.

That's actually one of the more creative slams I've seen and I saw just about everything you could imagine from all the Heritage kids when I was still in High School. I'll give you points for originality at least...

It wasn't a slam. Throwing pissbombs is a time honored tradition.
