a little too much alcohol
Way too much alcohol.
But it's strange, in my opinion, to try to superimpose the actions of any person over the reputation of an entire state's population of football fans.
Gads, it could be done with trash throwers from the student section at CU, drunken publically urinating fans at Oregon State games, muggers in Austin at Texas games, tire slashers in Columbia at their games, sun-in-mirror-reflection aimed at the opposing team's eyes at Georgia's games, and on and on.
I think the "best fans in college football" label used at Nebraska has more to do with mass loyalty than anything else; I've had the label "mentioned" to me at an Iowa State game when I applauded and cheered loudly following a Husker score there in Ames, as if my cheering my team was proof that Nebraska fans are not the best fans.. we're not, but nobody is of course.
I think "the best fans" is a dumb label for any sports fans and I also think it is unfortunate that Nebraska pr people keep sticking it out there as if it defines the state or whatever; absurd hyperbole, in my opinion.
You'll never hear a CU fan claim to be associated with the "classiest fans in college football." Yet if you read the boards on BZ, there's a lot of nebraska fans, year round, giving CU fans **** for some of our fans' behavior. It's obviously not fair to judge an entire fanbase by the actions of a few individuals, but, after a while, we hear it from so many nebraska fans, "classy this" and "classy that" that it's hard not to judge the whole fan base, because that's how they've chosen to define themselves.
We define ourselves by throwing pissbombs at other fan bases. At least we live up to our own standard. That's a joke, by the way. Please don't quote it out of context (you WON'T believe what they said at the CU site!!!!).
I had one guy tell me that if I wanted to get an idea of what's meant by "the best ('classiest'?) fans in college football" I should just compare the respective crime rates in Lincoln as opposed to whichever college town I wanted (I'm not from Nebraska but I live here in Lincoln now and have since the late 80s).
I first heard the "best fans" thing from a Colorado family, by the way, in down town Lincoln. They felt welcomed etc and had gone through some grief at other Colorado away games.
Nebraska seems like Sleepy Hollow to me, a guy from a huge city on the west coast, and the people here are generally pretty easy going comparitively. But I hate that label of "best fans" for a lot of reasons, not the least of which it's too easy to seem hypocritical.
Any "I'm better than you" stuff should just be settled on the playing field by the players, in my opinion. And that is only a temporary settling as it is. There is always next time.![]()
Stop right there, **** your opinion it sucks. My opinion is better and your fans suck.
Wonder if she has a laser pointer?!?!?!
