I want to see Josh Ford get more carries

1 carry for 7 yards Saturday.

Every time the guy gets carries, he gets yards.

Last year vs ASU: 10 carries, 73 yards.

128 yards on 22 carries for the season.

He's also been the star of our last 2 spring games.

I don't know if he looks bad in practice or something, but when the lights go on the dude performs. Get him the damn ball. He needs to be spelling Powell.

I wouldn't mind getting a lot of other backups for chances as well. Put them in there and see who shines. I don't really trust the staff's talent evaluation at this point.
 
Agreed. He makes plays. I think his problem is picking up blocks... I would love for him and abron to get carries and spell CP. Abron had a couple good runs and runs the screen great.. kinda reminded me how speedy ran the screens. Tony jones is clueless on screens and everything else..

hahahahahhahaa seriously. if EB's "if you can block you wont play" thing was true we wouldn't field a Offense. Marshall is garbage. gave the same hawkism type response after the game after his unit got manhandled.
 
I'm all for Ford getting some touches. Even Powell will wear down if he keeps having to act as ball carrier and his own O-Line.

LOL - I've been saying watch out, because CP's stats are thrown off by that one 64yd TD run (3.1 yds/carry without it), but this is an important point - when you are carrying 3 defenders to get those yards, you may be the only one strong enough to do so!
 
I agree with the title of this thread and will add this - let them all (all running backs)...as a matter of fact the coaches need to start playing all buffs. Need to find kids that have mean streaks and want to play and compete. I also am questioning EB and his decisions, not only his play calling (which is high schoolish). Seems as though EB, including last year, picks certain players and ignores others. Not taking away from Stuart, but more backs should of had opportunities. Powell looked great, keep feeding him the ball and let Ford, Abron and Jones come in for a change of pace.
 
This is just the tip of a bigger issue: the management of RB's in game is suffering. Powell gets 28 carries? Donta practices all week with the 1s and then gets in the game for a few snaps in the first quarter? Tony Jones goes out there repeatedly even though he's hobbling obviously? (and is awful when in?). The RB's need to be rotated. Powell was obviously gassed late in the game. His style of running is very wearing and he's on every special teams unit.
 
We certainly dont need to give Tony Jones the ball anymore - so much for the "he'll make you forget Speedy" noise.

This is a great point if we are going to have him carry the ball that much pull him off ST's.
 
I would like to see a better rotation of the rb's. I to like Ford a lot, so with him Powell and Donta I would be fine with. Love DD's hair but he is not the answer and TJ just never breaks a tackle and never makes anyone miss.

This season is gone so let's get Donta and Powell working together. Maybe this helps EB also. Get into a groove with three guys instead of 5.

I also want Gerald Thomas on the field a lot more. Seeing a formation with two tightends, fullback and tailback with one wideout and that is Ebner just makes me want to throw up.

thats a fair point... that said as a rb you dont block you dont play
 
Like to see it happen as well. Time to throw a few things up against the wall and see if they stick.

I disagree, on almost every screen to Jones the ball has been poorly thrown so he has to go out of his way to even catch it. By then it is too late and he is covered up. Only a couple of screens have worked at all the past 2 games mainly because of missed blocking assignments, poor timing and misplaced balls.
 
Giving Ford more touches would be great. He's an exciting athlete and we need some playmakers in there...not just those who don't make mistakes like Jones and Webb.
 
Once again, Ford performed when given an opportunity.

10 carries, 61 yards, 1 TD.

Sure it was garbage time but the fact remains the fact: when Ford has been given any type of opportunity he has produced.

It's puzzling that EB doesn't play him more.

Eric Reichter and Nembot were blowing the right side of that line wide open. Now, you have arguably the 2 strongest guys on the team going against third stringers, but still, at least there was something entertaining to watch for about 3 minutes there on the 2nd TD in garbage time.
 
I hope Josh gets a big look against WSU. Put him and Powell back there together, see if they can get something going.

Ford appears to have done nothing but work his ass off since he's been here. He was rewarded with a scholarship, now reward him with some legit playing time.

Will there be any changes on the O-line to go with this???

Nembot is supposedly gonna get a longer look in this game.
