Ideas on how to kill the game at Invesco.

We have something like 8 years left on this ridiculous contract. There must be a way out of it. The thought of going to one more game in Denver makes me want to jam an ice pick in my eye. How can we kill this game?

Act in such a reckless and outlandish way that the schools don't want the bad publicity and the city won't take the liability risk.

I have no faith that the contract won't be renewed after 8 years anyway.

CU and our AD are scared of the public backlash of doing away with this game.

Dwindling attendance will kill it. Attendance #'s have already dropped because both teams have been pretty awful of late. If the buffs string together a few 30 - 40 point laughers no one will go the games and the series will end.

Who controls the stadium? Denver or the Broncos.

THere wouldn't be as much if any backlash if the Broncos stepped in and told both schools that the field was no longer available for the game.

Elway walks on water in this town.

Not so much anymore he doesn't. He took a hit with the Tebow fiasco (he wrongly took a hit I might add)

CU winning by something like 45-3, 59-6 and 66-7 the next few years could potentially do the trick. End any semblance of it being considered a "rivalry" -- even by their dozen or so fans.

This, but from space. Can't take any chances here.

I plan on buying season tickets soon, but I have no intentions of attending a game in Denver.

Season ticket buyers have no choice but to purchase tickets to The Cinch Jeans Rocky Mountain SWAT training and college football match at Mile High Field at Sports Authority Standium.

I just might send my CSU tickets back to the CU athletic department with a note.

Dear CU,
I am donating my tickets to the CSU game in Denver back to CU in hopes that you will be able to find suitable use. Perhaps any additional resale proceeds can be used towards the construction of the indoor practice facilities.

You are welcome to forgo the mailing of these CSU game tickets at Invesco and in future years may exclude the mailing inserts promoting the game at invesco that is included with season ticket renewal packages.

I love my Buffs...on campus.

Regards,

This, only send them to Emburrito. He'll listen and he has a voice in the department.

^^This^^

And this is the only solution. This game the reason for existence for the huge majority of CSU "fans." To them the season last exactly one game. Their hope is that they will get to talk their crap for a year after the pull out an upset or at least come close enough that they can put up their lame excuses and pretend that they won. This is important enough to them that they have a group of politicians in Denver willing to support them. The CU administration doesn't want to waste time and energy battling against this.

The best way to stop it is to but a string of beatings on them, not just wins but blowouts, that take away their hope. Make it embarassing enough that they don't want to mention that they have a CSU affiliation at work around CU people (or others who might take the opportunity to laugh about how inept they are.)

When this happens they will no longer bother to show up for the game. The reduced attendance will take away some of the financial incentive to play. Remember that even in losing this game is a huge payday for them. They are a program that can't afford to give up a $300,000-$400,000 payday. We need to make it more appealling for them to get their payday by taking a beating someplace out of state (and off the radar) than in Denver and on the front of the Post and on all the TV stations.

I'm not going...and never will. I have had my fill of Pat's Gulag and Denver cops gearing up as if it were the Watts riots. I'll pass.

Don't go. Sucks not supporting the Buffs but if you don't want it there, vote with your feet and pocketbook.

I'd rather keep the game at this point, as much as I loathe it.

Money is better spent on facility upgrades than a buyout of the series.

How was it, that we could see this train wreck developing so clearly in forums like the BDC and Allbuffs, yet our State "leadership" and CSU athletic department could not? Games belong on campus. CU/CSU is not Texas/Oklahoma or UGA/UF. It's silly to pretend that it is, or could be.

Isn't CSU on the hook for unsold tickets in their allotment? I can't imagine that there aren't contractual obligations for both schools. If so, then this has got to be turning into a money loser for them, and they may view breaking it off as a positive.

If that's the case, they'll come to us.
