Grant Watanbe is leaving CU. It appears to be academic reasons. Unfortunate due to our complete lack of depth and ability. He was not great last year but he showed some promise. Need a guy to step up big!
The danger of playing freshmen maybe. The staff has to feel like this is a fail on their part. That is, to have a kid not meet goals in class. That said, my experience is, haha, that if you blow it your first semester, you go on probation or notice but get another semester to get your grades up. So, maybe, this, also, just was not the right fit for him? I don't know. Best of luck to him at any rate. I'm a guy who bombed out in school at 18 and eventually figured it out.
yep, that first semester and actually year is pretty tough...throw weightlifting, training, FOOTBALL in the mix, really tough for some. The danger of playing freshmen maybe. Oh crap. You're right. I forgot that. Which begs the question then, how did it get to this point? I guess there is only so much a staff can do. I bet he'd not have had this issue at 'bama. Haha. The fall was his second semester.

Which makes perfect sense. You go on probation if you get below a 2.0 and have one semester to get it up. If you don't, you're out.The fall was his second semester.
Yeah. I know that from first hand experience. Sadly. My 0.67 gpa the first semester at Texas Tech earned me a letter from the Dean. I was put on probation and given a semester to improve. I took it to heart, worked my ass off and increased my gpa 250% to a 1.7. Unimpressed with my upward trend, the Dean sent me another letter inviting me to not return. (I've told this story several times here, so I'm obviously proud of it.)Which makes perfect sense. You go on probation if you get below a 2.0 and have one semester to get it up. Nice. I only took 3 classes my first semester at CU and got 3 Cs. Took 3 classes my second semester and got 2 Cs and 1 C- to drop my GPA to a ~1.9. Received a similar letter from the Dean and worked my ass off to stay in school from there on out.Yeah. I know that from first hand experience. Sadly. Believe it or not, I'm an engineer (CU-Denver - Class of '89). Took 3 semester of calculus and a semester of differential equations/linear algebra, whatever the **** that is.You obviously weren't a math major.
Then you should know that your GPA increase was roughly 154%, not 250%Believe it or not, I'm an engineer (CU-Denver - Class of '89). Took 3 semester of calculus and a semester of differential equations/linear algebra, whatever the **** that is.

If he had just said that his GPA was 2.5x what it started at, he would have been fine. From one engineer to another, **** accountants @DBT. By the way my brother and Uncle are accountants, so I can say this tongue in cheek. Or will some literary genius (or guy not using his degree) tell me I am using that wrong?!Then you should know that your GPA increase was roughly 154%, not 250%

From a manager at a public accounting firm: Go ask for workWhile I am bored at my accounting internship, I found that it was a good time to post in here. **** engineers.
Let's hope you aren't at the firm I am at! I've been asking, but we are way overstaffed for this job. I am a little nervous still. Second job and my senior is a little less approachable than last week. Last week was smooth, but now he just kind of gets in a groove and I ask a question he says he will be right there and then he forgets... Please PM me though with suggestions. That would be awesome. And sorry to highjack the thread. From a manager at a public accounting firm: Go ask for work

Just brag about driving trains....heck, they are already on tracks, all you have to do is stay awake long enough to shovel coal into the boilers!Believe it or not, I'm an engineer (CU-Denver - Class of '89).
