Insight Bowl: OU vs Iowa

iowa plus the 2 TD's is a good bet in this one.

edit: i do kinda like that OU QB run package in the RZ.

How the hell do the officials allow an OU player to run on the field at the last second ON IOWA'S SIDE OF THE LOS? :wow:

Jones got knocked the **** up by that Iowa player helmet to helmet

OU up 14-0. NOt sure Iowa can score on OU

I have been of the opinion that Landry was going to be a pretty good NFL QB. Looks like I may be wrong (again before anyone chimes in.)

Lots of talent on the OU team but they don't play to their talent level.

21-7 Iowa moving the ball, does OU choke away another bowl win?

Ferentz had Iowa kicking ass from '02-'04 but they haven't really been able to recapture that since then. They were a good team in '09 when they won the Orange Bowl, but almost feels like they're headed the wrong way. As much OU has its moments of struggling, you still couldn't help but notice the talent edge the Sooners had over Iowa.

Its not easy to win at Iowa. Much like at Colorado you have to go outside the state to get leftovers and develop them.

There are some similarities, but with Iowa City being in the eastern part of the state they have the talent-rich Chicago area right next door, so they don't always have to go as far as we do to find their talent base. Ferentz has done a nice job there, but after going from 11-2 to 8-5 to 7-6 over the last 3 seasons they're definitely going to want to buck that downward trend next year (and also beat the Cyclones, because losing to second-fiddle ISU is one way to quickly lose your popularity in Iowa City)

Iowa also doesn't have much competition for the loyalty of the state. Iowans tend to be supporters of Chicago pro sports and there is always little brother Iowa State as well as some Nebraska loyalty but the Hawkeyes are the big ticket in a state where much of the population has strong family ties to the state.

Colorado has to contend with a population that mostly comes from someplace else and with the pro sports being the dominant ticket in the state.

The boosters love Ferentz. Consider where they were when he took over, he will get a long leash (even with his big salary).
